A supposedly false rumor has actually resulted in a casting decision being made. Director Michael Bay has decided to sign Mark Wahlberg for a major role in Transformers 4. The news comes just a few days after Bay denied that Wahlberg was involved but also admitted that the rumblings had made him consider bringing him in to the project.
Nothing is known regarding how Wahlberg will fit in the film. Earlier casting calls suggested the lead human character this time around will be female. That could always have changed now. The primary stars from the earlier movies, including Shia LaBeouf, are not returning.
Bay and Whalberg recently worked together on the upcoming Pain and Gain which also stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. It’s easy to imagine fans beginning a campaign now to get him in Transformers 4 as well which has a scheduled release date of June 27, 2014.
