Originally planned for release in September (Episode II: Attack of the Clones) and October (Episode III: Revenge of the Sith) the 3D conversions of Star Wars will no longer be hitting theaters. Disney announced today that they’ve been scrapped as all of the investment going forward will be put towards Episode VII. Just late last week it was revealed that J.J. Abrams will be directing.

Last February LucasFilm re-released Episode I: The Phanton Menace in 3D. It went on to make $43 million domestically with a worldwide total of $102 million.
