The uncertainty surrounding the release date for MLB 14: The Show has finally come to an end. The game will release on 4/1 for PS3 and Vita with an unspecified date in May for the PS4 version. The news comes less than three weeks before the day that baseball games would typically release under the contract with the league however the lack of competition and introduction of the PS4 moved things off schedule.

With the release of information and media slipping behind by about a month it had become evident that the release date for the was being shifted on every platform. Several weeks ago the PS3 version cleared ESRB certification while the PS4 had not even been submitted which was another indication that separate release dates were likely. There was also the precedence of releasing MLB 07 in mid-May in the PS3’s first full year out. So not only is history being repeated there but the other versions will come out closer to the start of the regular season as well.

The MLB season opens with the Dodgers and Diamondbacks playing in Australia on March 22nd and 23rd. Opening Night is Sunday March 30th. SCEA also today released new screenshots for the PS4 and a new trailer featuring PS3 footage.
