Review of The Golf Club 2

Posted June 27th, 2017 at 12:00 pm

Released in 2014 The Golf Club was among the first wave of sports games from independent developers that helped lead to the resurgence in the genre where sports (or unique takes on them) not being sufficiently covered by the big publishers are taken on by smaller studios. It was a great effort despite lacking in content and having a barrier of extreme difficulty, and was even rewarded with the Pastapadre Community Award for Best New Sports Game.

Now the sequel has arrived for $40 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC (or $32 for Amazon Prime members). With a Career Mode, the new Online Societies social feature, tutorials and practice options, The Golf Club 2 is a considerable upgrade over its predecessor. Check out the full review which has just been posted at Sporting News.

I’m looking forward to finally getting to play this. I was supposed to get it today, but Amazon somehow can’t get a game I preordered 4 weeks early here on time, so it will be tomorrow (at least) before I get to play it. But I’m not reading good things about the game’s stability right now. Is it really that bad?

This is why I don’t buy physical disks of games anymore. Plus downloading is usually cheaper for the most part

I’ve never seen a game that’s cheaper for download. One of the reasons I don’t download games unless there’s a great deal.

Anyone planning on getting this ? Keith ?

Yes, but slammed with work at the moment. Hopefully will have more time over the holiday to check out Pasta’s society. Very interested to hear PS4 Pro impressions, in particular the pop-in, if anyone’s tried it on the Pro.

From what I’ve read the Pro is virtually no upgrade at all so far, which is disappointing. Sounds like a rough launch for a LOT of people but no doubt this is going to be great when they get the rough spots ironed out.

It’s a really good game when it works right–which is a bit of a problem.

Game IS NOT PS4 Pro Enhanced and their IS draw in. The game is what you would expect graphically but the fact that it isn’t enhanced is a surprising disappointment.
