Tecmo Bowl 2008 update

Way back on May 11th of last year the announcement was made that a new Tecmo Bowl would be coming in 08. At that time it was teased that it would be on one of the new systems but not the one people would be assuming.
“I can’t tell you what platform we’re making it for. But I can tell you that it’s probably not going to be on the platform that you’re expecting… if that makes any sense.”
Since then there has been absolutely nothing revealed about the game. That is until the January edition of EGM made passing reference stating that it would be on the PS3 and 360 and would be out this summer.
So looking back on that original comment the most likely conclusion may be that the game was originally planned to be exclusive to the PS3 but given the circumstances it was necessary to have a 360 version as well.
Many felt that a new Tecmo Bowl would’ve fit best on the Wii so it’ll be interesting to see how well it translates to the 360/PS3 and the direction that they take it. How will a franchise known basically just for fun factor transition to the consoles where everyone will expect it to meet the current day standards? And how will people view the game now that it won’t have the NFL license?
Is it possible that this game would be made available on both the XBLA and the PSN? This game could be cool pick up and play football game similar to the old Tecmo Bowl games but in HD and with more features like online play. As for the NFL licensing issue, players could each create their own teams to play online with. If it was in the style of the older football games, there would be no need for ratings and rosters just a well balanced game that would be awesome over Xbox Live.
Maybe it’s for the Wii? Certainly no one would be expecting that, whereas it seems extremely likely that the game would be built for PS3/360.
Wii… Probably just a update of the original 2 team format (RED AND BLUE). Not geeked about this
Create-a-player options would be sweet. I would re-create the best RB in Tecmo history — Bo Jackson!!

Payton was awesome but in Tecmo, Bo was unstoppable. You could run Bo from the one-yard line to the opposite one-yard line, and back, without getting touched. I remember running out time in a quarter by handing him the ball and dodging, and breaking, tackle after tackle.

Tecmo bowl is a great tecmo super bowl and the super tecmo bowl are so much fun. After 1993 game it went down hill..I hope they make the game fun like it was on the nes or first game on super nintendo. I don’t care what game system its on. Graphics are ok but just make the game fun like it used to be I wanna be able to call “a up” make it a run play and “b down ” a pass play and make it the same on defence.
in my opinion, tecmo bowl would be better from side to side instead of up and down. something similiar to the 1995 version which is on the super nintendo would be great. that version includes free agency and trading players. that is what me and my football partner are wishing for.
