Madden 08 (final) roster update #8 details

February 16, 2008 by pastapadre

madden080216.jpg

The last roster update for Madden 08 is set to release sometime early today for the 360 and PS3. This update removes all players from the IR and somewhat surprisingly does include transactions made plus ratings and weapons changes. The Super Bowl was obviously taken into account with the Giants receiving a bunch of significant upgrades.

In a year that EA has been highly criticized one area where they excelled was with the roster updates. Going into 08 the goal was to do them on a weekly or bi-weekly basis after having never had any real consistency in previous years. While it wasn’t quite done at that pace (bad gap between November 12th and January 14th) it still represented a huge improvement. It was also nice to have all the changes communicated instead of just wondering or digging through players trying to figure out who had moved. Hopefully it gets even more frequent next year and other EA Sports games follow their lead in this area.

Update: The new rosters are now available.

Continue on to view the full list of changes in the final roster update for 08.

Im sorry…But this sucks. Miami cut like 12 people, and this doesnt show it at all

While the PS3/XBOX360 roster updates have been decent, the PC ones have been horrible. I think there was one update all through the regular season.

those are transactions that followed the end of the season (they’re 09 season’s transactions) so they aren’t included

arron ross and corey webster for the giants are really too low………webster played driver, owens ,moss and joey galloway almost perfect and he should be a 88 at least……the giants never get any love…steve smith the rookie wr tore it up in the playoffs against some top notch corners and he should be a 85 ….wow

Um…he also dropped quite a few easy catches in the playoffs. He only had 8 catches in the regular season and 14 in the post season. I’d say he’s lucky to end at an 80.

webster is the giants number 1 corner, not number 4. he should be rated that way.

Webster isn’t the #1 he is the #4, in the playoffs Kevin Dockery and Sam Madison were injured so he went to #2

    David Garrad-Accurate Qb
Amani Toomer and Plaxico Burress-Possession WR
    Antonio Cramartie-Hands CB
Phillip Rivers-Accurate Qb get it back cause it was removed
    Vincent Jackson-Spectacular Catch WR
Ike Taylor-Shutdown, Press, and Smart CB

The updates look good, but as always, you guys seem to leave out some of the changes that should have been made to the Browns roster, The O-Line was the biggest improvement that was made to the team, but madden does not reflect that, and Joshua Cribs did a lot of receiving and it doesnt reflect that either.

If this is true i think justin Fargas shoot be a 86 or 87 and becomes a speed running back and quick running back also i think thomas howard shoot be like a 90… I hope this starts working soon

i have been trying all weekend to get it to work too, and still nothing. finally justin fargas gets some love but i still don’t think it was enough he should be an 87 atleast, micheal huffs numbers didn’t move all season, and asamugha finally got a bump at the end. does anyone have any news on why it isn’t working?

Yeah, EA had better give Cribbs a lot of receiver weapons to reflect the stunning 3 receptions for 37 yards he compiled this year.

    Anthony Gonzales-Speed WR
Jeff Feagles-Accurate P - This is only because its hard not to be accurate when your punt goes 5 total yards

first of Eli Mannig is even lucky to go to 92, also there is no such thing as a Hands CB for Antonio Cramartie to get lol, Phillip Rivers shouldnt get his accurate qb back he doesn’t deserve it, Ike Taylor should get the press corner but not the smart corner and agree 100% with Reggie Wayne gettin a Spectacular Catch icon…

I’m glad to see they finally put Ryan Nece back on Buccs…seeing that he has been on the team all season but was mysteriousl absent from the game. Also, Paris Warren should be on the Buccs, not a free agent as he extnded his contract and never went into free agency at all….

These updates are OK, but it still does not do justice to the Giants. People seem to forget that they dominated the playoffs. These updates don’t even come close to doing justice to the D-Line. In 09, they need to come up with some cohesive ratings for an entire D-Line, because the Giants defense beat the sh*t out of every team in the playoffs. Ok, the updates to Strahan and Umenyiora are good, but I just played with them and there’s really not much difference. There has to be a feature which allows the D-Line of a team like the giants to dominate with just four of them there, and allow the backs to play more coverage. I still find myself still having to sacrifice back field coverage to blitz in order to get to the QB. Also, the ratings for Toomer and Smith need to be upped. They both made clutch catches and plays during all of the playoffs. And Burress at 94 is not right, he’s one of the best receivers in the league. He’s been playing with a messed up ankle the entire season. And Manning didn’t throw one int in the playoffs, he’s definitely an accurate QB. As soon as Shockey left and stopped pestering him, he played awesome every game. But really, these updates do not do justice to the D-line.. The Robbins and Cofield should both be at least 90 with finesse or crushing.

David Tyree ISN’T a spectacular catch RECEIVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DID YOU SEE THE SUPER BOWL???? Well anyway, Ahmad Bradshaw should be AT LEAST an 85 rating. But I gotta say, thanx 4 the Eli Manning upgrade, I was sooo pissed when he was only and 87 rating.

I saw somebody say that Jeff Feagles should be and accurate Punter because his punts only go 5 yards. I like what you said about the first part, but the rest is bogus. The Giants always get very close to scoring, and Laurence Tynes can’t kick very far. So they put Jeff Feagles in to kick them within the 5 yard line and he gets like a 35 yd punt, and trust me, he is a beast at punting.

My man, look at the stats for punters this year. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and you will se your man Mr. Feagles 2nd to last in punting avg. Don’t tell me he isn’t a short punter, he is 97 years old.

Do you think the Giants are the only team that tries to pin an opponent in the 5 yard line? Every other punter attempts to do that their fair share and still maintains an adult mans punting avg. P.S the giants don’t always “almost score.”

How does Rob Bironas get skipped on having the accurate kicker weapon. The dude was the best kicker in the NFL this year, hence his appearance in the pro bowl. Plus he broke the NFL record of the most field goals kicked in one game. Come on EA, where is the love?

He made one spectacular catch. If you can find another one in his career, maybe. A spectacular catch receiver is someone who does it routinely, like Randy Moss. I don’t really like Moss, but the man does embarass CBs with some of the endzone catches he makes.

wtf! how the heck does mcnabb go down!?! Eagles won the last 3 games of the season, made it to 8-8 behind ’skins + G-men + Cowgirls (all of whom made the playoffs), plus they didn’t even go in the playoffs but his ratings go down.

I guess if EA members tore THEIR acl’s and couldn’t walk for a year then things would be slightly different…

and LB Chris Gocong should at least be 80-ish with decent finesse ’cause he led the nation in sacks in college.

yah eagles front-7 ratings suck despite ranking 7th in the league in run defense.

Hecka teams are worse vs. run but they still have better linemen-backers

peyton manning should be on the top of QBs section

i hate how EA will just release a player just so they can add anoth. example: roman oben released by chargers so they could add jyles tucker. what the hell is that? also whats with jamal williams and mike goff going down? williams was fricken injured assholes! you can’t make a player go down cuz of injury. Also Cromartie should be like a 90-92 ovrall. I hate EA and i hope you assholes decide not to make a giant crap in a box for 09. but of course you will because you all suck.
