Wow what terrible rankings. Astros ranked 11th? Mariners 4 spots above the Angels when all they added was Bedard and lost bunch of offense in the off-season? Blue Jays 5th? Ridiculous.

How are the cardinals the worst team in the nl central. Glad I am stuck with the 360 because the d-rays, nationals and pirates will have worse records than the cardinals guaranteed.

What? Are you going to trade in the one that is worse or keep up with two games?

  5. BustyBuffet on March 3rd, 2008 2:11 pm Quote

HA! The team that went to the World Series for the NL is 14th best?

  6. Matt on March 3rd, 2008 2:11 pm Quote

yeah idk how the cardinals are 25th. wtf? that’s messed up.

THOSE ARE ACTUALLY MORE OF A JOKE THAN 2k’S!!

  8. nyr2k2 on March 3rd, 2008 2:27 pm Quote

Well, clearly the game must suck since these rankings are debatable. CLEARLY.

I think the fact that SCEA has to determine the ratings so early is the reason that they can appear a bit skewed. No one knows just who will rise above the rest this year. Their guess is as good as anyones. I site the 2007 Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks as living proof from last year, as well as the 2005 Detroit Tigers, and the 2003 Florida Marlins. I also think all five teams in the NL West this year have really solid rotations. Better than any other division in baseball (at least in my opinion).

Tigers pitching 9th and the Yankees 5th???? The Yankees rotation is old and shaky….

  11. thebrouhaha on March 3rd, 2008 2:31 pm Quote

Is there anyone, even Houston fans, who would say that they should be ranked ahead of the Brewers!?

Historically, good ratings are always given to “old and shaky” players. Durham is rated 81 for 2k or something like that.

True but at least base it on last year’s stats with a bit of tweaking. That is pathetic.

    Ratings are pretty bad…

Ya, those ranings are atrocious. Nobody is saying their not buying the game because of it, so save those comments, their pointless. It’s a crappy thing. The rankings are horrible. We know it’s a small issue. But still. It blows. Let people vent.

    Yea baby! ASTROS!

  17. Ross on March 3rd, 2008 4:45 pm Quote

I am a huge Mets fan, but #1 in Pitching? Come on.

Santana is the best pitcher, but he could have a slow start like Zito had.

Pedro says he is healthy but who knows.

Maine had one okay year, I need to see more from him.

Oliver Perez is wild, and sometimes ineffective.

    Pelfrey/El Duque = EH

Relievers - Heilman can implode, Duaner is coming off big surgery, and Wagner is decent.

  18. mike on March 3rd, 2008 4:54 pm Quote

maybe its just me but did anyone elsse notice the “Yea baby ASTROS!” comment from the guy with the pittsburgh pirate icon? lol

  19. thebrouhaha on March 3rd, 2008 5:01 pm Quote

I was wondering about that too mike. Maybe he’s just a Brewers hater.

  20. ksx on March 3rd, 2008 5:04 pm Quote

The Astros are going to be good this year. Best offensive lineup they’ve ever had (going to get the most production out of SS position than they have ever had), decent and underrated starting rotation with one of the best pitchers in baseball leading it (Oswalt), and an amazing improved bullpen with a closer that can actually close games this year. (Valverde)

It’s a good thing this game plays well b/c the rankings are a joke. For example, the Pirates and Reds above the Cardinals??

  22. regy on March 3rd, 2008 5:45 pm Quote

Cardinals couldn’t be any further from their recent postseason run. Reds are a team on the rise and Dusty should be Mgr. of the year in ‘08.

Oh well what do ratings matter anyway, its how you play with your team that takes you places….I cant wait to pick up 2K8 tomorrow but ya know I think somethings going on that they still did not release a demo yet….I think i am going to waist my money because if the company was absolutely into their product they would’ve dropped a demo so everyone can see that they made changes which would UP their sales….know what im saying….

Ok some of you need to understand a little somenthing… Rosters and starting lineups for most teams havent been finalized let alone the roster… WHICH DECIDES THE OVerALL RATING for a team… so relax let the season begin and wait for those rosters and ratings… same thing happend last year and by the time the season started and all roster changes were made the ratings looked fine

  29. nathan118 on March 4th, 2008 9:39 am Quote

The ratings aren’t team specific, but player specific. You can have a lot of good players, but a bad team. As far as I know the team ratings simply come from the players they have.

  30. Chex on March 4th, 2008 2:45 pm Quote

Have any of you seen the players that are on the teams you have such a problem with? Who do the Cardinals have this year besides Pujols? NO ONE! Go ahead and name their starting line up for me and if anyone say Edmonds and Rolen are still even okay, they’re drunk. Is Rolen even on the Cardinals anymore??? Go get the game, look at the roster, and then decide if you think the rating should be different.

I am a huge Cardinal fan, and i am bias, but the Cards have to be better than 25th! Is this a joke? But i’m gunna get both baseball games and keep the game i like better

How are the Tigers first? They didnt even make the playoffs last year.

“just look at who is on their team!”

Yeah, just look at who is on the Mariners?? Ichiro. Just look at who is on the Yankees?? Godzilla. Just look at who is on the Cubs?? Fukudome Just look at who is on the BoSox?? DicK… er DiceK

I’m sensing a bit of a bias here, I mean sure the BoSox ARE THAT GOOD and even deserve to be higher than 4, certainly even in the Yankee’s 2 spot, but…

  36. BringBackMVP on March 10th, 2008 3:50 pm Quote

The indians were one game away from the World series, would have won if they went to it and they are not in the top 10 teams in baseball. The Blue Jays are the 5th best team in baseball??? OOOhhh…ok I thought 2k8’s ratings were bad…

    Who cares?

  38. steven Ewan on June 10th, 2008 4:14 pm Quote

I think the mets ate the best teanm in baseball, follow by the los angleles dodgers and the los angeles angels then the improved tampa bay rays
who is going to make the playoff

  39. joe on June 18th, 2008 7:55 pm Quote

the rankings are horrible but i bought this game and i edit every player so that its more realistic. overall this game is too easy, i find myself trying to lose on purpose in order to have a more realistic season and not go 152-10.

  40. Mags on July 14th, 2008 2:17 pm Quote

the team ratings depend on how they rate the players. if the team sucks in real life but are good in here it means that they eather overrated the players or the players arent puting up usual numbers like the players on the tigers this year.
