MLB 2K8 full game video

This full nine inning game from MLB 2K8 features the Texas Rangers @ Tampa Bay Rays. It was the first game played after running through the pitching practice (which if you missed it can be found here). I’ve definitely started to get the hang of the pitching but at times lose concentration and it costs me.

Right now I’m somewhat pleasantly surprised by 2K8. There are some issues and oddities which I’ll detail in my impressions but overall I’ve found it to be quite fun and I like most of the new mechanics. Check back for full initial impressions of 2K8 which will be up tomorrow morning. Continue to view the videos as broken down in three segments.

From what I’ve seen that one of the strong points of the game.

This game is Garbage…FRom the stuttering framerate to the old gen graphics this game is a steaming piece of hot $hit. Don’t waste your $65 on this mess of a game.

If all you care about is graphics, then yes…go play the “other” game…if you like ignoring the analog sticks of course…

Man this game is pretty fun and the pitching only took me like 5 minutes to get the hang of.good mixture of hits game does kind of stutter a bit though.

Hey pasta thought you might find this funny:
I played my first game as the Reds against the Braves and going into it i was a little worried about the new pitching mechanics. Well, after one inning with Aaron Harang on the mound i sat the Braves down 1, 2, 3 so I was feeling like a hot shot; you know like what’s the big deal this isn’t so hard. First pitch i throw in the top of the second… Mark Teixeira lines one right back up the middle off Harang’s head knocking him out of the game with a concusion. I went on to loose 8-3, terrible bullpen. Anyways I thought you might get a laugh out of the situation. Overall I like the game, it plays well and seems more realistic in terms of gameplay than past versions. The pitching isn’t too tough to get the hang of, but like you said you have to stay focused. The only problem i have with it is the chopiness throughout cutscenes and replays.

From what Ive seen and played The Show plays just like the past 3 years has. I wouldnt pay $65 for The Show either. My friend has TS and I have 2K. Both games are alittle dissapointing. The Show has sharper visuals but, the button press is old gen. Its time to step up. If we took TS visuals and took 2k’s controls then we would truly have a next gen game. IMO both games are a let down.

I’ll be doing a comparison of the two games later this week which should be an interesting read.

But I don’t agree with the whole idea that using buttons is past its time. Its done well in TS in that its still challenging. I do kinda like what 2K did with the pitching but it wasn’t necessary. In a sense it feels like innovation for the sake of stating you innovated. There have even been a few times where I’ve done the motion and it hasn’t registered it (something that wouldn’t happen in TS). I definitely feel that way with the hitting which is the worst element of the game IMO.

But I do love throwing to the bases with the right stick. That feels very natural and is probably what I miss the most from 2K8 when I switch over to TS.

I played both games and both are pretty cool. Each one has it’s good points and bad points but overall i liked both. I think people expect way too much out of these video games. After all they are just VIDEO GAMES people!!

    I don’t know.

i wanna get/try mlb 2k8 at least. i am hoping that on my hdtv it looks slightly better than ANYTHING I’ve seen. i mean NOONE has made great HD videos of this game at all. the show had tons. Gametrailers had em vimeo etc.

MLB 2k8 just doesn’t cut it for me vsually. i’m asimple button press guy so i don’t even care about that. i can’t GIg 2k8 YET because presentation and graphics was NOT the focus. BUT gameplay was HOWEVER gameplay WAS such a focus that Brinkman deemed it OK to actully lower the games graphics in sake of it. i would understand if the game ran smooth and was a true innovation or at least this amazing way to play baseball but it ISN’T and that why i think he ultimately filaed with his management of this title.

NEXT year(if there is a next year) needs to have HIS “3 yr BS of a plan” down pat for eveyone that has stuck by this guy (as gamers) saying “he’s the savior he ain’t

hes a last gen game producer thinking he can”swing it” in a hd gaming world

I can not believe that this game was even released, and I have been one of 2K’s biggest supporters in this whole process.

This game is simply MLB 2K7 with a new coat of MVP baseball paint slapped on top of an already aging engine, to somehow make us feel like we got a new game. Dear Ben Brinkman- are you serious with this game? I’ve got the EXACT same intro music and commentary, the same terrible slow down, the same akward fielding animations, and the same engine I have been playing on the last 5 years.

I honestly feel like Brinkman’s team simply added layer upon layer upon layer of rip off MVP feature instead of tearing down the 2k framework and starting from scratch. Very disappointing- especially for those without a PS3, and don’t feel like dropping $400+ to play baseball.

MLB 2K8 is very disappointing. It is a step down from 2K7. The graphics are terrible and the framerate is unbearable. I tried to get myself to like this game, but it’s just not very good. Lucky I have a PS3, but now I have to sell 2K8.

Yeah, the throwing is great. When you release the ball after reaching the red there’s that second of trepidation. Is the ball going to be caught? Bounce in the dirt? Go over the first baseman’s head?

The fielding is greatly improved. I love when you turn to run toward the fence for a ball and you lose sight of the circle that indicated where the ball will land.

great video! I love how the crowd cheers so loudly when Baldelli flies out in the first inning. Oh wait, their IN tampa bay. Great job 2k…brilliant as ever

This game blows! 2K should be ashamed of themselves for making the same garbage from last year and calling it “new.” I was at my friend’s house earlier and played The Show 08. Now that’s how a REAL baseball game should be made! The Show runs much smoother and the graphics and gameplay are first rate! The framerate in 2K8 is HORRIBLE and the graphics look dated like an XBOX game, certainly not next-gen! I’ve been such a 2K fan for a long time but now with this crap and that joke of a football game called All Pro i think it’s time to make a change. I’m glad i got my income tax check back today because tomorrow i’ll be at Best Buy getting a PS3 and The Show 08! SCREW 2K!

Gosh, this game is bloody shoddy indeed.

The Show is light years ahead. Sorry, xbots are in serious denial here…as usual.

Hey everyone, hope you’re all enjoying the game. Just wondering if anyone has had the same problem as me.

I went onto the xbox live tab and went to the online desk to download the roster update. I pressed A on it to download and after waiting a few seconds, it says there was a problem downloading the file and to try again later. This happen to anyone else?

I really don’t know what to do. No one else seems to be experiencing the same problem as me. I even tried clearing the cache. Any help would be appreicated so I can start my franchise!

HDTV doesn’t help the look of this game…For the record the graphics are Ps2/Xbox Quality…But to hell with Graphics…The choppy, stuttering gameplay is what really takes the cake…This game stutters offline and online…Its pretty bad…

I like the concept of the pitching interface…I think the swingstick is improved but those things get lost in the fact that the game is just a very bad game…Its the framerate…Its far from smooth and fluid. I really don’t understand how a game that was beautiful just one year ago ends up looking like steaming hot ish…Everything about this game IMO is cheesy..From the clunky Ps2-ish menus to the stuttering gameplay…to the goofy red marker over your players head.

The pitching meter while innovative and interesting IMO seems needlessly difficult…I don’t mean in a sense that I couldn;t master or be good at it..Its more like its difficult JUST TO BE DIFFICULT…Every missed marker is a MEATBALL…IMO thats really stupid…Make a missed marker a passed ball or ball out of the strike zone but why each missed marker is a MEATBALL is just arcadish IMO.

Ya know first impressions are important…and when you fire up your powerful next gen console and see this game you will wonder why you bought a next gen console because this game is IMO truly of Ps2 quality..

I’m still trying to figure out how a game goes so far backwards in playability…Online sports gaming is doomed if this is the future
