The actual list looks impressive, have to see it in motion and in the game to make a judgement

nice i like that missed field goal return hopefully they remember to put that into madden also so devin hester can return some

CPU vs. CPU (watch mode)!! Woo-hoo!! Not a big fan of features that have been in the series prior to the next-gen titles being considered “features”, but I’m glad to see EA beginning to add some of these missing features to next-gen.

As I think has been clear from the beginning (of next-gen, at least), the folks behind NCAA are a hell of a lot more competent than those behind Madden, that’s for sure.

    game sounds awesome so far

  5. Mike on April 2nd, 2008 6:20 pm Quote

Sounds good but talk is talk.

One feature I would love to see is bad snaps and QB exchanges.

  6. Steven James on April 2nd, 2008 6:23 pm Quote

A focus on gameplay? UnEAlike. This list looks almost too good to be true (of course online dynasty wont work). I dont really get why they promote 50 alternate uniforms as some sort of accomplishment though. And I think the question we all want to know is when the ultra-realistic spectacular catch comes to NCAA.

  7. pat on April 2nd, 2008 6:26 pm Quote

wow these features are really impressive the sidelines looking more realistic nd the missed field goals returns is a really good thing i think a lot of users will find that interseting and i personally love the bobbled catches madden 09 relly needs to do the same

  8. Dre on April 2nd, 2008 6:26 pm Quote

Why do they still have the play calling scren the same. They need to go back to how it was on the las-gen console other than that everything else sounds like another buy for me when it is released in August

I just hope that the O-line finally creates a pocket and they scrap the robotic QB dropback animation. But from the early builds of the game, it seems that they didn’t fix neither.

When they announced the wii cover it said their would be over 200 hundred teams on the game so I would think they would have 1-aa teams.

Formation audibles have been sorely missed in Next Gen. Glad to see they finally put it in. I have to assume madden has it back too.

That was for the Wii, which is a PS2 port. There are no 1-AA teams for the 360 or PS3. Its a completely different engine, and version of the game. 1-AA teams are on the PS2 version and so therefore got ported to the Wii version.

Honestly I’m the most excited about Roster sharing online. College Hoops 2K8 had that and it made it really easy to get all those names in for the players. I know a lot (probably most) of you guys have Datel XChange or something similar to that to get rosters from your PC to Xbox or PS3. However for those of us without we can finally get those rosters.

I’m a litle disappointed because I was hping they would add a dynasty facilities and stadium upgrade on the game for when you built a team up. I wonder if extra jerseys will be available for download?

If you havent seen a small clip of NCAA and some of the moves they are creating, then take a peek at this I found on gamersters.com

When they say online “dynastys” do they mean like multiple years or just one season ala 2k leagues. I hope they mean multi years but I really hope they bring online franchise to madden. It would be amazing to have trades, free agents, draft, scouting, salary cap….but I dont think they could actual make it work well. Still put it in and with the right group of guys it could be amazing!!

  38. pastapadre on April 3rd, 2008 7:20 am Quote

I can pretty much guarantee many of these are 360/PS3 specific. Online dynasties, roster sharing, ect. This is basically a 360/PS3 specific features list. That doesn’t mean the Wii/PS2 won’t have some of these things too but this list isn’t intended as a description of those versions.

  39. Eric on April 3rd, 2008 7:42 am Quote

Some interesting features, but a lot of them were already on the last-gen. This continues EA’s cycle of pulling features from the game and then adding them in later for a bullet point on the box.

Online roster file sharing is probably the coolest feature, though it is really easy on the PS3 anyway, so it isn’t as big of a deal there.

After all that has happened with the FCS over FBS upsets, and the outcry to add FCS teams, you’d think that those teams would be in the game. In all honesty, who the hell cares about a flippin’ mascot game for Christ’s sake? What a waste of programming time. This will be the third year in a row I will not buy this game due to FCS teams not being included in the next gen games. I can say the same for many many other gamers. Just because they are “small” schools doesn’t mean there aren’t a lot of fans. There are a significant number of fans that would buy this game if FCS teams were in it.

  71. raginram on April 3rd, 2008 6:15 pm Quote

I just got to put my two cents in. You see wins from Appalachian state over Michigan, South Dakota State over Minnesota and Central Michigan and Delaware over Navy (three of the four FBS teams went to a bowl game). You would think that the folks at EA would think maybe its time to replace the FCS Southeast and FCS Northwest and include all 123 FCS teams from 15 conferences and even the independent teams but No. Now the App fans and the Delaware fans with a PS3 or Xbox360s will just have to wait another year. I dont even know which is worse not being on a next gen console or having 79 FCS teams on the PS2 or Xbox with outdated info on the school such as logos,Unis, players, conference (atlantic 10 is now the colonal), generic stadiums, etc.

Its a good question but one I don’t really have much of an answer to at this point. Generally you see new features on a yearly basis that differentiate between the two titles. So last year NCAA got the video/screen uploading and Madden didn’t for example.

I think it’ll probably be along those lines where Madden will may have some of the same new features (lets say the returning missed FGs would be pretty likely) but others will stay separate. Online dynasty for example seems like a better fit for NCAA than Madden. My interview with Peter Moore makes it seem unlikely Madden will get any sort of home field advantage. But in their places there will be other things to look forward to I’m sure.

if there’s anyway to go back to the old graphics from ncaa ‘07 on the next-gen consoles, they should attempt it again this year. i know last year they said there’s really no way you can have both, but half way would be better than what they had in ncaa ‘08. and i would love to see create-a-school again. and what’s the deal with the mascot games? i don’t really know much about those but if they are what i think they are (meaning football games played with mascots) then they definitely shouldn’t put that on there. there’s a lot of people on here that are saying they shouldn’t put that on there, so i’m just gonna agree with them since it seems to be a bad idea. but everything else seems ok. and someone mentioned ESPN presentation, that would be nice, but i’m sure it’s got something to do with having management rights from ESPN to do that. so EA should talk it up a little with ESPN and get something going, cause an ESPN presentation with lee corso and herbstreit would be nice.

Is the interactive touchdown celebrations gonna be similar to ESPN NFL 2k5’s, where you set what celebration you what to a specific button?

HOW HARD IS IT TO ADD THE FCS TEAMS?! Seriously, after the biggest upset in college football history, you’d think that EA might have had the brains to think, “Hey, maybe we should include teams like Appalachian State in this game!” But no, EA continues its traditional lazy approach to making games. I know I’m never buying another NCAA Football game until they add this simple feature. Hell, where’s Create-A-School?

    EA sucks.

    Quoted for truth.

Hey Pasta, i read the article on the game’s official site and noticed it says “60 FPS on PS3″, what about xbox 360???

  87. Cam on April 8th, 2008 8:34 pm Quote

Wasn’t it 60FPS on 360 last year? If so, they have no reason to talk about it this year. They’re just announcing they finally caught up on PS3.

Oh wow lol, didn’t even realize that. So last year’s PS3 version didn’t run @ 60 FPS?
