EA Sports also cancels NBA Live PC
April 10, 2008 by pastapadre

After hearing that Madden for the PC had been shut down it can’t come as a huge surprise that NBA Live will join it on the bench. While this has caused the PC community more angst the sales and piracy concerns don’t seem to warrant new releases in their current forms.
The only PC titles that would probably seem safe are Tiger Woods and FIFA, while NHL would appear to be another possible cut in the near future.
I previously mentioned EA’s Battlefield:Heroes as one potential direction they could be headed. I don’t believe they’ll just abandon the PC completely but they will be more creative in what they do there. They could come back with licensed games that follow the B:H model of being free and relying on advertising and microtransactions. There is also EA Gameshow, another free interactive experience on the PC that is supported solely by short video ads in between sessions. So they’ve shown some signs that is a model they are open to.

was to be expected cant blame them for making the decision
they will be glitched and mediocre like in the past anyway. good riddence.
I don’t understand it since it is just a port of the PS2(not that PC users are happy with that) version and there is no competition. Easy money. I mean, not even for Direct Download only?
It’s obvious they are focusing on something different for the PC platform since I recall hearing that they were completely reworking their PC development team for 09. I guess cancelling NBA Live 09 for PC was that reworking. If it means that NBA Live X for PC will be of nextgen quality, then I am all for it.
The PC version of the LIVE serie was so ridiculously in lack of quality, that I would say, this is a logical step to focus more to the consoles. I just can not understand, that many of the developers can present their games both on consoles and pc, x360 has more or less the same programing architecture, than a pc, only the biggest company is uncapable to do it, losing their 15 years old pc NBA community. Believe me, if they wanna play with the newest nba game, they shall choose 2k.
A few things, EA should not forget:
- Their main title, Sims is basicly a PC game, they should not betray it.
- In America there are about 15 million x360+ps3, but 100x more pcs! It is not a market?
- Piracy on pc? I can buy written x360 games, whenever I want.
- On consoles, nba 2k’s sales are about 2x better, plus there comes Sony’s own nba game for ps3 plus the Ballers. For PC, EA would not have a competition.
For most players, EA became more and more only a moneymaker company, producing their series endlessly, it is a mass production on a moving conveyor, expensive sofwares, lack of creativity and quality. Adding ads would confirm this supposal, ruining the joy of gaming.
To much work rebuild old engine-game in a nextgen game on PC!!! Too much work for EA sports workers!!! Their work was (many years) only new statistics and some new shitty features!!! Well done EA, well done!!! If there is too much work -> just throw it away!!! THX very much!
EA lost the console battle to the 2K series and lost the PC battle to their incompetence.
In the last 4 years, EA said after the release of the actual nba pc game: next one is next-gen graphic, genious replays and shortcuts, improved gameplay. Nothing came true! WHAT THE HELL DID THEY THINK, THE SALES SHALL INCREASE, MEANWHILE THE NBA SERIE IS BASICLY DID NOT CHANGE IN THE LAST 5 YEARS? Why should I buy something for 50$, if I have seen that last year? EA just repacked the same software year by year, and now they blame us. How is the pirate?
