NCAA Football 09 clear visor screenshot

April 16, 2008 by pastapadre

EA Sports has released another new screen from NCAA Football 09. Continuing with the trend of displaying improvements to this year’s game through screenshots (player models, stadiums and environments previously) this one shows off the clear visors which are being added for 09. SOME fans will be excited about this. People made a big deal out of the clear visors so this will allow those folks rest assured their prayers have been answered.

I want to know if they made any improvement to the create a player. I mean the pre-rendered players are kind of weird looking. I mean give us the option of designing our own faces.

WOW, clear visors are gonna make this years game THAT much better. I found that as probably one of the biggest flaws in last years game, especially since almost everyone on Ohio State wears one…

    Nice.

    finally

one less unimportant thing for people to complain about

Finally. This is a minor thing but considering that dark visors are ILLEGAL in college football it is necessary. Plus, it looks awesome.

I hear that. This ranks up there with the following:

    Refs or no refs
    FG nets
    Sideline animations

I am glad the visors are in the game but I would not say that last year’s exclusion was a “flaw”. It didn’t impact gameplay, the excessive fumbles and interceptions did….

finally i cant belive they just got them the thing that pissed me off about these in madden 07 was that it was basicallly a mirror

All of which EA could easily include if they wanted to, and then the discussion could finally move on to something else.

Gameplay is first and foremost, but details are important. They’re trying to simulate the game of football. Not trying as hard as they could be, but trying nonetheless.

I am happy they added it because anything that adds to the realism, to me, is a positive. However, seeing as they added it now only serves to show how ridiculous it was that it took this long. I used to get hyped up for Ncaa/ Madden every year, and while they never live up to the hype (nothing does) the games were always rewarding. With Madden 07 and then 08 though, EA lost all good faith from me. Im not saying I wont buy both games but I am first going to wait a good month after release of each game to see the real reviews from real people who know the games. Pasta did an article about this a while ago regarding how ridiculous it is to rate sports games after an hour with it and without really testing online play. For example, my first game against the CPU in Madden was fun and I loved the improvements over 07 but then we see

    1) d/c glitch
    2) spc catch
    3) nano’s like never before
    4) defenses who cant react to high passes
    5) not possible to run an offense form under center
    6) onside kick
    7) Jetpacking. It is or was 2008, how is it possible that this is still in a Maddden?

Hey Pasta, it is Under Armour. So does that mean they’ll have Nike and Oakley as well? Also, will you be able to get different colors on the top like Jamall Charles and Yeneson Brenard?

Wow, that is an ignorant sentence. Seriously, I haven’t this excited for NCAA since I was like 8.

This is great news. It shows that EA is actually paying attention to detail, something they have flat out refused since the move to the next gen systems. This is not major improvement to the game by any means, but if EA continues to pay attention to the little things, itll make for a much more enjoyable overall experience. Take Rockstar for example, one of the things that will make GTA IV the biggest title of this generation is their painstaking attention to detail, theyll have you so immersed in the city youll forget youre playing a game and thats what EA needs to do.

There are Nike and Under Armour clear visors. I’m not sure about Oakley though. If you watch the video there are multiple players wearing Nike and Under Armour visors

They do have oakley visors because in a screenshot of a Notre Dame player u can clearly see the O for oakley on the visor.
