Madden 09 Demo Coming August 1st

The demo for Madden 09 will hit XBL and PSN on Friday August 1st. If you just can’t wait until August 1st the same demo (only for the Xbox 360) is available with the purchase of an NFL DVD that releases tomorrow the 22nd.
This will not be a typical demo. Instead of traditional gameplay with reduced quarter length it will feature time in the virtual trainer and then head into one of the “Madden Moments”, this one from the Super Bowl. Only the offensive team will be controlled (in this case the Giants seem likely). Commentary has been excluded due to demo size limitations.
The Madden NFL 09 Demo showcases some of the new and exciting features in Madden NFL 09. The demo begins with the user being loaded into the all new Virtual Trainer to begin the Madden Test. The Madden Test is a Madden aptitude test of sorts, that is used to assess your Madden IQ, which drives the users custom difficulty and play settings. The Madden Test consists of 4 core game play mechanics: Passing, Rushing, Pass Defense, and Rush Defense. Gamers will be taken through the entirety of the Madden test and then given their final Madden IQ.
Once the Madden Test is completed and with the your Madden IQ decided, gamers are then brought into yet another all new feature, Madden Moments. Madden Moments allows for users to replay a team’s key moment from the 2007 season. Upon entry into this mode, you’ll see a brief overview of the moment, which is the Giants final Super Bowl-winning drive. With about 2 minutes to go, you will take over the reins of Eli and the Giants and begin their march to victory. Once the moment has been completed, users will be allowed to restart the moment as many times as they want.

Of course EA would restrict the demo like that so it’s impossible to see any glitches unless you buy the game… at least my friends buying it when it comes out so I can test it out at his house
The demo sounds as if Ea is trying to prevent you from seeing the gameplay. Im feeling another buggy, broken game the likes of NCAA 09
Yea the demo definately sounds shady. If Madden is as great as EA claims it to be then why not give us a full game with 2 minute quarters like NCAA did? Who wants to play the demo for virtual trainer? But then again EA knows that no matter what we will all flock to the store like sheep on August 12th because Madden is the only NFL game to buy. So I guess they probably don’t see an upside of releasing a more detailed demo but only a downside because we might notice flaws in the game if they did.
So we can’t just play a normal game of madden?
I don’t think there’s anything suspicious about the demo.
EA wants to reach out to a wider audience and make Madden less intimidating to new players. The Virtual Trainer introduces people to the basics of Madden, and the Super Bowl Madden Moment shows off the new graphics and a portion of the gameplay. It’s a smart approach.
That DVD is going to sell more copies than it really should…
I am buying the DVD, but I was actually going to buy it before I knew about the madden demo. Personally, I want some footage on DVD of Peterson’s rookie season and of this year’s epic super bowl. Thanks for the heads up on the demo pasta! Made me even more excited about getting my video!

Are we sure that the demo will be out August 1st for the PS3? Seems to me that the PSStore only updates on Thursdays, which would be July 31st. Or will PS3 owners have to wait until the following Thursday, Aug 7th?

yea but in doing so theyve added “new” features that the true madden gamers dont want and theyve been taking away the games prestig by making it into a kids game. The fact that you can set each difficulty is childish in my opinion… when I play someone I want to play an even game so the TRUE player wins, I mean it sounds like a decet feature if youre playing your 3yr old cousin but you might as well take it easy on him instead of setting the AI difficulties for each user. This is going to be another year I dont buy this and its dissapointing

Guys, Madden is not going to make any significant leap to where you are going to be have this huge difference in opinion on the game. It’s the Madden engine we are familiar with. Sure, things will be improved, but if some of you truly dislike this game the way you claim, you’re not going to be swayed by a 2 min qtr. demo.
I welcome the different style of demo.

yeah but even though theres not a regular game they still have madden moment which is gameplay and that gives you the chance to feel the gameplay look at graphics and make sure for no glitches

In the iq training its fun to make user catches like in previous maddens but in this work in progress demo it will not allow you to throw the ball more than 30 yards or user catch it
The NFL DVD is available on Amazon for $12.99. If you have Amazon prime shipping you can receive it by Thursday or for an extra $3.99 tomorrow. Or you can be patient and receive it next week for free via download.

I got mine from a friend that works at FYE, if they dont have it try any other store like Best Buy, Wal Mart , or Circuit City

user catches seem to only work when you are not holding turbo while attempting to catch it;and if you try to square up to the ball to user catch it wont work for some reason

there’s isnt any commentary and i wasnt able to shift my oline but the formation substituitons are fast and easy to access

Hey Pasta, just so you know the demo in the DVD and the demo for download on the 1st are not the same. The DVD demo is from an April build, while the downloadable dame is from a near final build.
