Via EA’s producer blogs comes a new video Madden 08 video. In Ian Cummings’ entry today is a focused look at the gang tackling.

Videos can’t show the game changing difference this technology has made for us (and for you all). I tried to get a really good 4 man one, but only got ones where the defender fell backwards at first. This isn’t always the case, but it was the best I could do with the time…getting a “true” 4 man pileup proved kind of difficult.

Despite the disclaimer he makes about it not being put together professionally, in some ways I prefer videos such as this vs the trailer style that has become commonplace like the first one that came out. Those are more stylish and entertaining and are used to sell the game sure, but for those who want to get a sense of the true look and feel of the game this video is a good example of how else that could be done. The hardcore fans can appreciate the unmanufactured quality of what is being displayed.

The impact of the gang tackling appears to be significant although the best way to evaluate them will be through actual gameplay footage and hands-on time. It will be important to see how natural it takes place within the game environment on a play to play basis.

There will supposedly be a new video each Friday over the next two weeks. One will display the sideline catches and the other will show off the double team blocking.
