It seemed things couldn't get much worse for the next-gen version of NBA 2K14. The practically always-online nature, its damaging VC implementation, and crashes affecting many were already well publicized. Last week's patch did little to improve the situation as many are still unable to play MyCareer or MyGM due to crashes. It also introduced a new bug in MyGM that prevents proposed contract details from being altered essentially wrecking free agency. There are other areas of the game tho...

For those who prefer to listen to podcasts over the video hangouts, the show will be offered in audio form within the next day or two and a new posting will go up at that time...
  • VC Implementation Threatens The Future Of The NBA 2K Series
    by
    Posted December 10th, 2013 at 3:45 pm 140 Comments »
It's somewhat startling to look back just a few weeks and see evaluations of NBA 2K14 that did not mention alarming tactics instituted by 2K Sports that would greatly affect consumers. The game for all intents and purposes requires an online connection and VC has been baked into almost every mode in a way that detracts from the enjoyment of the product. Of course reviews also didn't bother to check how worthless the Online Leagues were and whether online even ran properly, and they wouldn't ...

    Posted December 10th, 2013 at 12:30 pm 11 Comments »
On the heels of the first roster update for the Xbox One and PS4 versions of NBA 2K14, which dealt with bringing the roster mostly up to date after going nearly two months without any alterations, another has released today that addresses the two biggest stories from Sunday. Kobe Bryant has been activated following his highly anticipated return. Injured players are unable to be used in next-gen NBA 2K14 as rosters can't be edited and saved to the hard drive. So ironically Kobe was availab...

The crashing reported on earlier that is being experienced by many in the PS4 and Xbox One versions of NBA 2K14 will hopefully be fixed in the next patch. 2K Sports finally made a statement on the issue two weeks after the troubles started escalating by commenting to Kotaku and stating they are aware of the problem and are working to fix it. The Xbox One and PS4 versions of NBA 2K14 suffered through a stretch in which they utilized a roster that was nearly two months old. That has finally come to an end as the first roster update has arrived for the new systems. A new update has also been released for 360 and PS3. Changes include injuries being reflected for players such as Derrick Rose and Rajon Rondo (plus Kobe Bryant who wasn't injured in the base roster), Chris Paul moving up a point to 94 overall, Kevin Garnett going up ...
  • Severe Issues Continue to Plague Next-Gen NBA 2K14 Even After First Patch
    by
    Posted December 4th, 2013 at 4:30 pm 70 Comments »
The instances of NBA 2K14 crashing on PS4 and Xbox One reported originally last week have continued, and seemingly even amplified, following the patch that released yesterday. While consumers have experienced crashes when playing games and in a variety of modes where the majority seem to be occurring are within MyCareer mode. For many the mode - which is often cited by 2K Sports as being the most played and arguably represents the biggest selling point of the product - flat out does not w...

The first post-release patch for NBA 2K14 has arrived on the PS4 and is expected out on the Xbox One within the next few days. 2K Sports will only say it addresses issues with MyCareer save files and connectivity problems in the online mode The Park. Nothing on whether it will help with the crashing many are experiencing or other server-related troubles that have plagued 2K14's otherwise impressive release on the new systems. Considering the 2.3GB size of the update it would seem likely t...
