    While several other recently released games have been available at a discount the first significant deal for NHL 16 has been offered up today by Amazon. The game is available for $40 on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as well as "Legacy Edition" on 360 and PS3.   • EA Sports lays out plan for new content coming to Rory McIlroy PGA Tour

    Three months have now passed since Rory McIlroy PGA Tour released and to this point EA Sports has only added a single course to the game. The company has not abandoned it however, and now they've detailed plans for free content they'll be adding in the months ahead: two golfers, a handful of courses, and new ways to play.  (more…)...

    While the big deals won't come around until Black Friday in late November, there are already a few opportunities to grab games that are only a matter of weeks old at considerable discounts.     Four years ago there was an epidemic of account thievery related to the FIFA series and its Ultimate Team mode. Many described it at the time as "hackings" but really it was social engineering and a major failure in EA's customer service where inexperienced reps transferred accounts without properly verifying ownership.     Retailers including Amazon, Gamestop, Best Buy, and Target are running a promotion this week where a free copy of NBA 2K16 is being thrown in with many of the previously available Xbox One bundles. The promotion runs through Saturday.   • 9th Circuit ruling on O’Bannon complicates potential return of college games

    When Judge Claudia Wilken ruled in favor of the plaintiffs in the Ed O'Bannon vs NCAA class-action lawsuit, there was reason for optimism that college sports video games would be able to return in a few years. That was pending appeals however, and the 9th Circuit today turned in its response, reaffirming that the NCAA violated antitrust laws, but striking down the part where a trust would be set up for players to be paid for the use of their likenesses.  (more…)...
