Only a day after the launch of the upgraded EA Sports World comes disappointing news. In late April NCAA Football 09 producer Ben Haumiller had an interview with Gametap where he talked about the game and added the following information about online dynasty.
“Our full stat tracking that goes in for dynasty will be in the online version,” Haumiller explains, “and we’re also working with EA Sports World to get our stats displayed on the Web as well. You’re going to be able to see your Top 25 lists, your Heisman results and so forth up on EA Sports World.
Unfortunately confirmation has come today that nothing to do with your online dynasty will be hosted on EA Sports World. This also carries over to Madden 09’s online leagues, where there very well may be no web component, essentially rendering them worthless to a large group of people.
This was one of the things I was really looking forward to. Being able to browse all that information on the web at any time is much more appealing than doing it on the console. I would’ve spent much more time doing so on the computer, and this will likely lead to somewhat of a drop in online dynasty related activity and interest, and would severely hurt the appeal of the Madden leagues. So it appears that NCAA will only get the video and screenshot uploading out of EASW, which feels like a letdown after having a full year to prepare something new.

Does this effect NHL 09 also?
June 10, 2008 at 5:31 pm
Not as far as I know. I might suggest not counting on them though, outside of video uploading which seems to be a standard now.

thats stinks i was looking forward to checking out all of the online dynasties across the country

typical EA. Never going all out on new features. EA should hire people from Bungie to make a website worthwhile, regarding stat tracking on the web.

Disappointing

The online dynasty is pretty much a carbon copy of the offline dynasty thats the easiest way to put it. You will be able to check stats and what not but its all done in game not on a website.

Also its not a matter of them hiring more people its a time issue they didn’t have the time this year to have functionality with the website.

This blows big-time. I take down a ton of info in my dynasties to post in dynasty reports. I was getting pumped about being able to just grab them off the web, maybe copy and paste or something, or at least have them more easily accessible than having to turn on my system. Oh, well, maybe it’ll be a “new feature” in NCAA 2010. They never give us everything at once, like they’re afraid we won’t buy the game the next year if they make a near-perfect game. NCAA is like crack to me. I’ll buy it every year, if for nothing else but the roster update.

This was one of the features I was looking forward to the most.

Wow, incredible. I have always found Ben’s bluster regarding NCAA to be just a liiiiiiittle bit much. He seems like a nice enough guy, but now this proves that next year he better at least wait to confirm that things are workable before announcing they’ll be “in the game.”
This year during one of the preview vids he said something about “the greatness of NCAA 2009″ or something… Is that like the current “Greatness of the Raiders?”
I hope not. Hopefully this game will make us pooh pooh the omission.

What a shock….EA doesn’t deliver on a feature again. Honestly, uploading videos, which is a woefully slow process in 08, and pictures gets old after like 5 games.

I’m a bit upset with this. The purpose of leagues, IMO, is to have the ability to go to a place that has a breakdown of stats (outside of the clunky console). The website is sort of that newspaper you turn to in the morning to review what’s going on with your league without having to boot up your gaming system etc.
I still am happy about the online pics and videos for Madden/NCAA. I think that offers depth to a league when talking about highlights and weekly reviews of league action.

I hope this is wrong…How can Madden 09 have online leagues and no website for the leagues…to track all league things IE stats, standings, news, trades…2k sports has been doing this forever it seems now…why is EA so far behind the curve…I sincerely hope that Madden 09 has websites related to the online leagues.

Hopefully the NHL 09 team pulls through, they have been promising HUGE things for the online component.
June 11, 2008 at 9:25 am
No big deal for me personally, but again I empathize with you guys. Just when you thought EA has finally gotten their collective heads out of their asses, they go and pull a move like this.
I guess some things just never change.

1.) Just turn on your xbox—it will be ok…….
2.) hey Pasta any updates on Offline Dynasty mode?? The demo is coming out in a few days and the community has yet to hear any new additions to dynasty mode/recruiting.
Thanks for you help

i can’t just “turn on my xbox” when im at work or want to show off my dynasty to a friend! this news really sucks
June 11, 2008 at 10:47 am
Well theres always leaguedaddy lol
June 11, 2008 at 11:53 am
I don’t think it’s about “just turning on your Xbox” and looking at the stats. If you look at the video and pic addition of uploading to EASW, it’s about making a statement, “look what I’ve done.” Anyone who has been involved in leagues knows that your league forums are the place to talk about things going on etc. The ability to go to EASW and view stats and maybe copy and paste to your forum to talk about things is much needed. I wouldn’t say EA is dropping the ball, but they are missing the open man in this one.
June 11, 2008 at 11:55 am
Yeah it is a bit ridiculous considering 2K has had this going on forever and EASportsWorld is still in this beta mode which has felt like well over a year now. EA is so painfully slow with new features, updates. I know I’ve harped on FCS teams not being in the game for the third straight year. It’s just stuff like that that really makes fans upset. If EA would just deliver on these seemingly simple things (and I can say that since it seems our friend 2K delivers on most features for their games) then no one would really have complaints with EA dominating the sports game market.
June 11, 2008 at 5:34 pm
I’d agree that 2K has been doing leagues for a long time (with websites), but they’re greatly flawed. If anything, there should be rants on how terrible their leagues are. With every 2K Sports newly released title, there’s a bug in their league system. from mixed up trades to pitching fatigue issues, 2K’s leagues are a hack.
I hate to say that because I love 2K Sports (pre next-gen).
June 11, 2008 at 5:53 pm
An EA feature that isn’t going to live up to the massive early hype. Wow, I must be dreaming.
June 11, 2008 at 6:33 pm
seriously, what’s up with the website still being “beta” after 2 years?
so what’s the difference between what the website will do now, as opposed to what it did when it first started (aside from the pretty new paint job).

has anyone heard what the minimum number of human controlled dynasties teams are needed for on-line dynastey?….and what games is ea having on-line dynasties for? {madden, nhl09, ncaa09 ?}….will all stats be kept in on-line dynasties just as they are in off line dynasties? such as rushing yards, passing yards so forth and so on for individual players?
