While aware that the upcoming patch for UFC 2009 Undisputed would address the issue with quitting in online matches it was unknown what else would be included. THQ has now released the full details of what will be in the patch in the game’s forum. As to when it will go live it appears it has not yet been sent for certification meaning it is still at least another couple weeks away from arriving.
- We recognize premature match quitting as the biggest online issue and have taken steps to fix it. The Patch will have integrated code that detects who pulls the cable and will assign a Loss as well as a Did Not Finish to that player. The DNF is only counted for the player who executes the disconnection. The DNF rate will be displayed on the fighter selection screen of the Online Ranked Match. When disconnected the Winning Streak is also reset to 0.
- We’ve adjusted Ranked Matches to match up players with better connections, which will improve lag issues we’ve seen to date.
- We’ve adjusted the difficulty of performing submissions against AI opponents to improve the balance of subs vs. striking when playing against the AI.
- We’ve adjusted the Flash KO rate so that they are less frequent.
- We’ve increased maximum number of points awarded in online play from 99,999 to 999,999 and we’ve increased the Max Level from 100 to 200.
- We’ve lowered the Winning Streak Bonus Max from 5 to 3.
- We’ve removed the decimal places on the Leaderboard Winning Percentage so we only show whole percentages.
- We’ve addressed the CAF cheat so the skill levels in CAF cannot be cheated and increased. Also any CAF with unfair point values will no longer be able to be used Online.
- For PS3 users we’ve also fixed a bug that causes a freeze during auto-save; whichever controller was used to Press Start on the Title Screen will be identified as the main controller.
Outside of the online quitting problem I’m most pleased to see that they’ve worked on actually being able to submit the CPU which is impossible or at least seems to be. Nothing else stands out as major but the game didn’t have any other huge flaws to speak of.

Then you need to talk to your ISP, go to a wired connection, or upgrade your wireless network.

Shouldn't they reset DNF's to zero? Because mine will probly be like a 20 because right now, the quits show up for BOTH people.

Sounds good. What does this mean for the other player who doesn't quit though? Do they get a win? If so, what is it categorized under?

Haven't played this game in forever it seems, FN4 has been giving me my fighting fix as of late.

WOW EA's FNR4 team should take notice and address their game issue ASAP!

They already are. UFC's striking physics are a joke compared to FN4. I'm a huge MMA fan, and I did like UFC Undisputed, but since FN4 arrived, it's been collecting dust. UFC Undisputed in a few years may reach FN4 status, but it's now left me underwhelmed.

FN4 has nothing on UFC, and Im a EA fanboy.

Like your s/n. I'm a huge MMA fan and I thought UFC made a respectable game. I commented on an aspect of the game that is really lacking. If you punch the opponent, it lands in the same spot, over and over again, same whip lash head movement (unless its a knock out hit).
Also in terms of game play, all you have to do it get a kick boxer and hit the LB + kick button all day long and you'll win.
The foundation is set for UFC, it has a long way to go before it tops Fight Night in terms of gameplay and physics.

You must be playing some really nub people if you're koing them by spamming headkicks man.

yeah same here but FNR4 is a mess in some fundamental areas.
1) No Punching in the clinch (makes no sense)
2) Clinching is tactical move not just about hugging a guy to regain stamina. We should be able to turn our opponent in the clinch.
3) online illegal blows just need to be removed all together.
Don't get me wrong FNR4 is a beautiful game and crazy fun IF you fight someone who plays the game the way it should be played. I had a couple of 10 rounders that were rewarding even though I i lost one of them. They just need some simple tweaks to make this an outstanding game, right now it's just pretty damn good.

Yeah, never understood the point of allowing illegal blows. Might as well allow technical fouls in their NBA games, and unsportsman like conduct in Football.
I avoid the clinch whenever I can. I tend to run away if fazed lol…get me the hell away!

so the ground in FN4 is a joke compared to UFC.. camman, u cant compare in that such matter both games, you need to compare in the whole expirience, you remember FN1 or FN2, give me a break, in there time there where good, but if you compare them with UFC 1(to be named) is way too much for those games, compare to the games made for the publisher in ther brand.. so your comparing a 4th try vs. a 1st. try.. so yes. UFC is better..way better

I'm comparing two games released at the same time period, on the current generation technology. Using your same formula, we shouldn't be comparing the Xbox 360 against the PS3, we should be comparing it against the PS2 since this is MS's second generation console and the PS2 was Sony's second generation console.

lb + kick will win huh? no. ill just catch it and take you to the ground where its a whole nother game dummy. think outside the box and try play on something other than easy for a change
July 7, 2009 at 6:39 pm
::rolls eyes:: the POINT I was making is that you can fight the exact same way each time and get the same results, whereas in FN4 you do that, you're guaranteed to be rocked or even put the canvas in the first round.
If you take two players who play the game right, then yeah its fun; however, that's not the case. In FN4 you can't just go all out punch or you're going to get rocked. In UFC you do LB+Kick and you will knock the guy out sooner or later.

Yeah, I have to agree with the others giving you a hard time. The thing I love about UFC is that there is balance. There is a counter to everything. Now, if you're not as good at executing the counter as the opponent is at whatever he is attempting, you'll still lose.
As for the high kicks, I have to laugh. Yes, in an even match, or using a big kicker, a high kick can end the fight. But if you come at a good player with that strategy (or even the computer on a higher difficulty) you will lose. High kicks are very slow, and if I know that is what my opponent is going for, I'll counter to a take-down about 80% of the time, and he'll miss the other 20% (no joke).
I will buy FNR4 at some point, but since it's only coming out every two years, I'm just going to wait. UFC provides my fighting fix, and while the boxing game has nothing on FNR4, the other facets of the fighting, and it's balance, makes it fantastic.

WHAT ABOUT RIGHT STICK SPAMMERS
July 7, 2009 at 11:44 pm
"In UFC you do LB+Kick and you will knock the guy out sooner or later. " IN FNR4 IF YOU HOLD RB AND GO FROM 6 O CLOCK TO 12 O CLOCK ON THE RIGHT STICK YOU WILL KNOCK THE GUY OUT SOONER OR LATER.

I would love to own you online with you LB+Kick. Do three of those and I will take your ass to the ground and mess you up with Tito Ortiz homie. PEACE!
