First NCAA Football 10 Patch Out Now

The release patch for NCAA Football 10 which the PS3 received last week has finally been pushed live for the 360. Starting up the game should now prompt download of the patch automatically. Issues addressed include an on/off option for downloadable cheats in online dynasties, fixing of the sliders so they affect gameplay properly, and instituting the “fixed” rosters for online play usage.

I have received several requests for comment on broken progression in dynasty mode resulting in an inordinate number of highly rated players. No response has come from EA regarding this. It will likely be targeted for a second patch considering the severity of the problem. Despite this I would not anticipate hearing anything concrete until they have determined it will in fact be fixed in the second patch.

Any body else having issues downloading the patch for PS3? My download gets disconnected each time when I reach about 28%. Any other ways of getting the patch other than downloading over PSN?

Well, at least it's a start. There are some gameplay bugs I've found and posted on their forums, but if we can now use sliders, it'll make gameplay tunable.

Considering how long it took EA/Microsoft to get the first patch, I assume most players will be too far along in their careers to care much about a second patch. Just goes to show how a development team can really let down their customers but get away with it each year.

Great point…When a game has huge issues a patch needs to be out with in a few days. The game should have been tested to the point these bugs were worked out, but obviously the NCAA team had better things to do.

Well, it has more to do with MS's patching process. On PS3 it'll be out much sooner because they don't have the strict screening process and certification. The PS3 had it not long after release, which was how it should have been on both console.

Sorry for the double-post, but apparently the patch also added player facial expressions…this is according to a dev's post on Operation Sports.

Ooh! Facial expressions. Finally! Now I can rest easy knowing that computer generated players feel the emotion that doesn't exist in the game otherwise. I mean, after a win, what happens? The players just amble off the field like they're on drugs.

Adam Thompson, NCAA Football 10 Designer, posted this yesterday:

"There will be a second, bigger patch covering a host of issues. We've already started work on the things we know we want to do, but we are waiting until next Monday before finalizing the list of changes."

From his other posts it sounds like 3 of the things that it may address are Player Progression, some scheduling issues for the Big 10 and Fatigue.

Already a 2nd patch needed huh? LoL. It's funny how everyone buys into this shiz every year, keeps pumping EA full of money for the NCAA Football and Madden games…even though you KNOW going in, that the games are going to be so glitched, that they're hard to play, or not worth playing. I am just amazed at how EA doesn't get called out publicly, on a larger scale…than what they have already. If they were an automobile company or something, everyone would be up in their shiz. I know, it's just a video game company, but you shouldn't be held to any lesser standards when it comes to providing a quality product for the consumer to purchase…especially when money is so tight, with our bad economic situation. Sorry for the rant, I just wish that for once…a company would be held accountable for their crap.

I agree with you to a certain extent. Since NCAA college football is the only game of it's kind out (college football game), NCAA fans REALLY have no other choice. Some ppl just can't go without the latest NCAA football game – regardless of issues. I know I can't.

Since Gamestop is giving me $40 for this game in return for buying Madden 10 I'm basically renting NCAA 10 for a couple of weeks. I do like it, overall a fun game but the way they've hyped Madden 10 gameplay I can't help but expect it to be better than NCAA. In regards to patches most sports games are released with bugs that are eventually fixed (or ignored until the next year). I never see 2K or EA rushing to get patches out to the public, why start now?

EXACTLY! Stripping the ball out is the most useful thing needed towards the end of a close game… but it's also the only thing that's more of a negative than positive. 1 strip for every 5 facemask calls.

So, I hear the patch is finally out for the 360. I don't have the game, but my friend says that the fix to the sliders has made a nice improvement to overall gameplay. You still can't run a dynasty because player progression is so f-uped, it's not worth starting until they fix this in their next patch. I can't believe that a company could release a game with so many problems having to be addressed via patches. It's freakin ridiculous. Fixing sliders, rosters to remove guys that are playing on Sundays now, and a host of things still to come. All I can say is I hope Madden isn't like this. If Madden does have bugs that have come up this late in the production cycle that can't be fixed on the final product, I hope they're working on a patch and getting certifications NOW! The only thing worse than having to download a patch to fix stupid problems is having to wait weeks for it simply to play a game that you paid full price for.

hey guys i'm back but ya i do notice some bugs such as AJ Green being progressed to a 98 in my 2nd year, he had a real good season but a 98 is too much…… sometimes on option plays if the RB slips by a tackle the same time he's getting the pitch, it will go down as an incomplete pass instead even though i may have gotten big yardage or even scored… but yea i like it other than that oh and i don't really notice the players that have already graduated but thats because they aren't big so i wouldn't know right? but good report pasta keep up the good work.
