No Plans for NCAA Basketball 10 Patch

NCAA Basketball 10 released to little fanfare and with what has appeared to be minimal support from EA Sports. That brought about the question of whether the game would even receive a patch. EA has provided patches for all their yearly titles however the feeling surrounding NCAA was that it may not receive the same post-release support.

I have been informed that there is currently no plan to provide a patch for NCAA Basketball 10. After having written about the possibility that EA will cancel the NCAA Basketball series based on various observations this is the strongest sign yet that it could be inevitable. NCAA 10 appears to have been sent out to die and there is a very good chance now that there will be no college basketball game on the market next year.

  • i have been loving the demo of this game. i would really appreciate it if someone could answer a question about this game for me. does this game feature division aa conferences like the swac or mid atlantic schools?
  • jhose37
they actually should bring a patch out for this game bacause it is one of the better College BBall games. I just bought this game yesterday after playing the demo out of bordum and found a diamond in the ruff, with a little tweeks this game can be perfect

NCAA basketball 10 is a good game, but here is why its going to die, EA sat on there butts for the last Three years, try to put out a good game but its to late. they killed the trust of the consumer. If ea would have put effort into their games from day 1 of next gen, all of their current games wld survive. They slacked early and now are trying to play catch up, and its not gonna happen.

I'm willing to sell my copy of NCAA Basketball 10 for the PS3 if anyone is interested. $35 seems reasonable. It's not that the game is bad without the patch (it's quite fun actually), it's just that there are a few minor issues with the game that if patched, would make it feel more complete. My email is danw7326@hotmail.com. Thanks.

Pasta any words if another company will take the license? other than EA sports or 2k. what about the company does UFC do you think they might want to do a college b ball game. I dont care what company does it as long as there is a game.
  • Right now I don't forsee anyone making a college game if EA drops out. I'll probably do an article about the possibilities, but for now the most likely scenario might just be a March Madness downloadable edition in the future.
  • Evan S.
Yeah as long as 2kshare works I see no reason to buy another college b-ball game.
  • Evan S.
You keep saying "we" like anyone else agrees with you. If you don't like college basketball that's fine but there are plenty of other people who watch the whole season and not just during march madness.
  • Lol exactly Evan. S. Tell that to college campuses around the nation t Daley.
  • GeorgeCostanza
    who is we?
  • William
    Same here!
  • Yeah, I bought this game and absolutely hated it. It felt half-complete like EA was just putting it out in hopes of duping diehard college hoops fans like myself into buying it in its last year. I took it back.

Odd thing is, I absolutely love NBA LIVE 10. I'll stick with playing that and CH2K8. Thanks to however put the 09-10 rosters on the 2KShare for that game this yr.
  • I will be very sad if there aren't any College Basketball options available next season. Although, I don't have any thoughts on March Madness this season, but I'll be getting it from Gamefly soon. College Hoops 2K8 is still a pretty good game though.
  • Bisett
College Hoops 2k8 Shits On NCAA 10 LOL!
  • Thats the problem with college hoops video game, why is it a game made in 08 is better than 10. rediculous, E.A. still cant get Live right so are we really shocked they cant get college hoops right. And to T Daley have you seen college football 10 this year?? hot trash, I didnt play it after I bought it the first day it came out!!

I am going to have to disagree with you. I think that there is a market for a college basketball game, but after this game was released it has received no support from the company. This seems to be a trend at EA where they release a game for the sake of releasing it. Anyway, the market is there and I think that had they released a few blogs, ran a few spots either on TV or through their website and actually cared about it post-release we could see a decent game.

college basketball is a losing proposition. The sport is only relavant 1 month a year. We don't need a game centered around a sport that only matters during the month of March.
  • Boiler Up
Are you speaking for you and the other 2 people that feel that way?
  • Maybe you should go and see the packed gyms in some of the colleges before you talk about just having a game around march time.
  • That made no sense. You realize you have to win games to make the tourney right? Let's just start the NBA and MLB around playoff time...
  • t daley
You state this like its a bad thing. The people have spoken and it is clearly obvious that the people dont want an NCAA basketball game. Truth be told, college basketball is only relavant 1 month a year and that is during the Month of March. College basketball just doesnt have the same appeal as college football.

Professional basketball is all the basketball we need and apparently I am not in the minority in my thinking.
  • Boiler Up
Why do you keep repeating yourself? NBA basketball is weak! The college game is where it is at.

This is a really great game of basketball but the freezing is holding it back. I have told a multitude of friends not to purchase the game because of it and I believe that many others are doing the same and word of mouth will stop EA making money. The catch 22 of it though is that they don't seem interested in our money or sales with this game so a boycott for a patch will go nowhere. If they can fix the freezing, many people I know will buy it and I will certainly be willing for a NCAA 11 but as of now, I'm still playing College Hoops....
  • There has been nothing stopping 2K from making a college basketball game other than they didnt want to lose money on it. I doubt that changes since even EA doesn't want to take a bath on it.
  • joos
if EA doesnt make one could 2k make a bid for the lisence and make 1.
  • The game is awesome the presentation is phenomenal just bought this game today its a shame they arnt going to make one for next season they could have really built off this
  • Glenn33
This a shame. Really it is. This game is pretty good and given ANY support could have developed into a great one for next year.
  • Personally, I haven't seen anything in the game that detracts from the experience. I am having fun with it.

I think many were hoping a patch would be implemented to fix some of the uniforms that are out of date (i.e. Michigan State and others).

As far as gameplay goes, just like any game it isn't perfect but, again, I am liking it better than any of the pro games released this year....
  • "Currently there are no plans for any additional updates as mentioned with the release of Update2.

    ---

The limitations are set by Microsoft and refer to the size limits on updates. At this point we’re unable to include any further improvements to the game because the 360 doesn’t support it."

Yet the game is still redicilously bugged. Especially the Manager Mode.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMX-7V9HNCI (These are just some of the gameplay bugs. There are over 70+ confirmed bugs in Manager mode alone)

They've locked the Launch Feedback forum, they've disabled the search function, they ignore questions for the Q&A thread. They've removed an entire Wikipedia entry about the bugs. And the entire team has been given instructions on not to visit the forums at all. The appear to do anything to get it to go away, except for actually fixing the game..

    It's just disgraceful.

  • I'll check into it. Thanks
  • You should cover the debacle that is the FIFA 10 patches. Just check the official forums. It's ridiculous what EA are trying to get away with by claiming it's Microsoft are the ones stopping them from fixing the game. If anything it's their own greed.
  • test
  • Im going to buy it
  • People need to buy this game during the christmas because this game could get good if we can get it to next year
  • This game is on my Xmas list. Does it need a patch that bad?
  • William
    Mine too!
  • cook
    first
  • cook
    that sucks
  • Ouch.....I was hoping that you were only kidding...How in the world can one of the most popular sports in regards to viewership not warrant a release? Crazy...
