Chris Pratt Gets Lead Role in Guardians of the Galaxy

The highly coveted role of Peter Quill in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy has been officially cast. Chris Pratt (Zero Dark Thirty, Moneyball, Parks and Recreation) will star as Quill (Star-Lord) the leader of the group which also includes Drax the Destroyer, Groot, Gamora, and Rocket Raccoon. Pratt beat out rumored names like Lee Pace, Joel Edgerton, Jack Huston, Jim Sturgess, Eddie Redmayne, Zachary Levi, and John Krasinski.
Brief synopsis: About a U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants.
Directed by James Gunn Guardians of the Galaxy is slated to release on August 1, 2014. It follows Iron Man 3 (May 3, 2013), Thor: The Dark World (November 8, 2013), and Captain America: The Winter Soldier (April 4, 2014) making it the last of the individual properties before leading in to The Avengers 2 (May 1, 2015).
