Marvel Makes Huge Phase Three Announcements
Marvel held a press event today and somehow managed to exceed the hype with a ton of huge announcements in laying out the movie schedule through 2019. It's easily the most ambitious phase yet encompassing nine films that includes a two-part Avengers.

Guardians of the Galaxy Shatters August Box Office Record
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy was expected to challenge for the highest opening weekend in August box office history but it blew right past 2007's Bourne Ultimatum which pulled in $69 million. Guardians finished the weekend with an estimated $94 million. That makes it the third biggest opening of the year behind only Transformers: Age of Extinction ($100 million) and Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($95 million).

James Gunn Returns for Guardians of The Galaxy Sequel Which Gets Release Date
Guardians of the Galaxy isn't even out yet but plans are in motion for the sequel. Marvel has slotted it into their July 28, 2017 date which is one of nine they've planted their flag on all the way into 2019. This was the main news out of the panel at Comic-Con which included no new film announcements but rocked the hall with a teaser trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron.
