Benicio Del Toro Cast in Guardians of the Galaxy

The latest casting news for Marvel’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy is a significant one. Benicio Del Toro has signed on for an unspecified “lead role” (speculation will be Thanos) with his agreement stretching over a series of films. He may be attached to Guardians sequels and also appear in other films like The Avengers 2.
Del Toro joins Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Michael Rooker (Yondu), John C. Reilly, Karen Gillan and Glenn Close. Guardians of the Galaxy directed by James Gunn is slated for release on August 1, 2014.
