Details on Fourth Post-Release Patch for NBA 2K14 on PS4 and Xbox One

2K Sports yesterday released a new patch for NBA 2K14 on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It marks the fourth update to the game since its release with earlier ones having to address numerous serious issues. The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions did not get a single patch as the company moved its focus almost entirely to the new systems once they had shipped.

This patch primarily works to improve The Park mode, but also fixes a particular freeze bug in MyCareer, and prevents duplicate players from being used in a MyTeam lineup.

The post-release support related to The Park is probably not surprising considering the mode may rise to even greater prominence in NBA 2K15. The update does not appear to have addressed in any manner server outages, the rate of which seem to have risen as of late. Continue on for the full list of fixes and improvements delivered in the latest patch.

Voice Chat should now be much more reliable when three or more people on a team are voice-enabled.
Fixed an issue where users would not see server-based content (thumbnails in the store, NBA Today video, clothes in The Park) when signing into a first party account after having already booted the game.
Fixed an in issue in MyCAREER where an in-game save (specifically, in the game before you were set to receive your own signature shoe) would freeze when attempting to later load the file.
In MyCAREER, the On-Court Coach signature skill will now properly allow you to call plays when equipped.
In MyGM, fixed an issue where no players would appear (in specific circumstances) in the list when attempting to propose a trade.
Fixed in issue in Online Leagues that prevented some users from being able to matchmake against select other users. Online Leagues in general should be much more stable now.
Duplicate players (the same player from different years) are no longer allowed in the same lineup for a MyTEAM game, as was originally intended.
The default quarter length in MyCAREER has been reset to 6 minute quarters, as originally intended. Users are welcome to re-adjust as necessary.

The Park
Addressed an issue where specific player types were unable to complete alley-oops.
Users will no longer experience a freeze when loading into The Park after previously playing a different MyCAREER file that was terminated by quitting out of the Rookie Showcase.
Fixed an issue where players would sometimes stop moving or even skip/glitch around the court when spectating a game.
Fixed an issue where a game would sometimes disconnect when another player quit the match.
Players will no longer get stuck after lining up to start a game if another user drops/quits right as the game is about to start.
Addressed a very rare crash that would occur when users would spam their controllers while waiting on a ‘Got Next’ spot.
Fixed an issue where a user playing on controller two will not up in The Park on other user’s screens.
A number of other smaller Park changes have been made to increase the stability and overall performance of this feature.

2k is the worst at updating games. Took them forever just to get this game working and now they only worry about stupid crap like The Park and MyTeam.

Alright, I’ll say it, I hope this patch doesn’t create more issues, I am quite content with the game at the moment, as I have been for a few months, is it perfect? No, but the major problems have really seemed to have leveled off for me.

They didn’t even fix the audio bug. Sound still cuts in & out smh. Unbelievable 2K. No gameplay fixes either? We still have foot sliding, poor rebounding, over used canned dribbling animations specifically when your player dribbles between his legs with one hand back to the same hand (that happens way too often & why isn’t that animation assigned to just a few players in the league), etc.. 2K has really dropped the ball this year in how they handled this game. It’s a pretty looking game & can play great at times, but between these botched patches, the VC debacle, server issues, etc..they’ve frustrated a lot of loyal fans. I hope they get their act together next year & get back to being the company that we all rooted for.

As a Knicks fan, it is annoying how Melo loses his headband and never gets it back. It just doesn’t look right and ruins the experience for me. It seems to happen to Lebron aswell.

Pretty despicable of them to have done nothing to the 360/PS3 version of the game. If they planned on focusing entirely on next gen, don’t charge $60 for previous gen version. On top of the entire game being tethered to servers and microtransactions being built into everything. I’m done with 2K for awhile.

I understand this a bit late, but I’m wondering if anyone got a reply as to whether or not local co-op was removed from MyGM intentionally, or if they couldn’t get it to work?

Also, I’d like to know if they intend to put it back into future games.

I loved the game, but really missed playing with my friend at my house. We do this local co-op in franchise modes every year to every game. We did 8 seasons of NCAA last year, and have already played an entire season in MLB The Show this year, playing 2 out of 5 games. We create ourselves usually and have a good time, and have been for at least a decade, and I’ll be sad if they start removing these options from games.
