With Madden NFL 15 out now through EA Access on Xbox One I’ll be hosting a few live streams over the coming days. The six hour restriction on the trial however means each stream will only be an hour or two long. Check it out live below and after completion they will be archived for watching later. Feel free to drop any questions or just chat along throughout!

[Update] The first two streams are archived below. #1 has an online game, brief simming in Franchise, and a CPU game. #2 is a week nine Franchise game. More over the next couple days. Only have about two hours left of the trial though!

PASTA it’s being reported that if you turn it off the game will not restart.

      not true

  • ninnyjams

Does it tell you when you’ve burned an hour, at least? Like when you re-launch the game after playing an hour?

When you start up the trial it gives you a message, it’s not a precise one though. Like mine right now says “You have under four hours left”.

How long did the download take?

    • http://pastapadre.com/ pastapadre

Download/install was about an hour for me.

      • imatexan3

Lucky, it took like 3 hours for me.

Which camera view do you use? The default looks great, but it way to close up for me. I have to use the camera that’s one zoom out.

Yep same, though I’ve found myself adjusting based on play types or situation.

Hey Pasta as someone who casually plays sports games only, what new generation console do you prefer?

    • http://pastapadre.com/ pastapadre

If baseball matters to you, the only choice is PS4. If baseball doesn’t matter then they’re both pretty even for sports games and it would come down to preferences like where friends might be if you play online, which controller you like best, or what non-sports game exclusives (Microsoft’s or Sony’s) you want more.

My impressions through about 3 hours of Madden 15 on XBOX One:

    -Post
Play animations are absolutely awesome, look great, seamless, and
really change the game for me. It’s amazing how that small change makes
the game so much more realistic and closer to what you see on Sundays

    -Coaches
(one’s who actually allow their likenesses) look very much alike their
real-life counterparts. Chuck Pagano looks scary real and Tom Coughlin
    is pretty close too.

-Graphics overall are way better than last
year’s Madden 25 on XBoxOne. The cuts in the biceps, the sweat on the
arms, and the wrinkles in the jerseys are very impressive

-Fields look good, very close to real life

-Halftime and Post game shows are OK. At least we are headed in the right direction, close to what 2k5 offered

    -Gameplay
is smooth, the early jump on defense when timed correctly is very
satisfying, running with the ballcarrier seems more realistic than last
    year

Overall I think EA has done a pretty good job
through my early impressions. Pasta, curious if you agree with my
    impressions above.

Hey Pasta why arent my comments posting?

    • http://pastapadre.com/ pastapadre

I clear through the comments manually. Until I do that they sit as pending.

      • Mikhail B

Cool, I wrote one up and value your opinion on this stuff lol

Pasta, I noticed in your video and some other videos that the Vikings’ helmets look different. Hard to explain, but almost cartoonish or blurry or two-dimensional, compared to how sharp and lifelike every other team’s helmet looks. Have you noticed this?

    • Jackson

I think it is because they have a different finish in real life. They don’t have the glossy finish like other teams, it is darker

Pasta – have you had a chance to play the PS4 version at all to see how they compare? Debating which console to pick up Madden 15 for currently…

    • http://pastapadre.com/ pastapadre

Won’t be able to play on PS4 until Tuesday. But I’ll keep that in mind, any differences between the two. Sorry I can’t help you with that right now.

  • ryan

Pasta, in your brief gameplay experience, did you find that it was any harder to succeed in the read option compared to last year’s madden? I found that last years was just way too easy to pick up big chunks of yards.

    • http://pastapadre.com/ pastapadre

Yes. Definitely not picking up the big chunks of yards you could last year with relative ease.

  • jaymo76

Pasta, lurked here for a years but never posted. Anyways thanks for the footage. Just wanted to say I pretty much agree with your take 9 out of 10 times. Keep up the good work.

      I appreciate that!

Of all the streams I have watched thus far I am overall impressed with what I see. No it’s not perfect, and I am going to have to get use to the new play calling screen. BUT this is the first Madden in forever I’m going to buy.

I do I have an overall question: What Happened To Injuries? I don’t think I can recall seeing one on the streams. Do they not mention it when a player goes down now? Am i just missing something simple? Or is that just a factor of early access play?

You talking in that video was pretty much pointless. Kept cutting out and I couldn’t make any sense of what you were saying
