Madden Mock Draft picks 6-8
April 1, 2008 by pastapadre

We’ve now reached the point in the Madden Mock Draft where the players start to get a little more bunched together in terms of their potential overall ratings. Drafting for team need or based on specific skills and rating categories becomes even more of a focus. Continue on to view the picks for the Jets, Patriots, and Ravens.
#6 New York Jets - Vernon Gholston - DE - Ohio State

McFadden would’ve been the choice here had he not been taken already so Gholston becomes the next best fit. Could’ve also gone with offensive line help although no one would’ve stood out enough at this pick. Gholston can play the DE or OLB in their 3-4 defense. Ratings wise he should end up around an 82.
#7 New England Patriots - Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie - CB - Tennessee State
Losing Asante Samuel and Randall Gay makes CB the obvious need for the Patriots in the draft. The choice came down to Rodgers-Cromartie or Leodis McKelvin. Both should have overalls in the 80-82 range as that is how EA graded out the mid-first round CBs last year. RC gets the nod due to having an edge in height and speed.
#8 Baltimore Ravens - DeSean Jackson - WR- California

While getting a QB would be a good move for the Ravens it really wouldn’t offer much of an upgrade over any of the ones already on the roster in Madden. So DeSean Jackson comes in with the most immediate Madden potential in a way comparable to Ted Ginn Jr. from last year. Initial rating likely around an 80 but with great speed that can be utilized on offense as well as in the return game.
Do you agree with selections 6-8? Coming in the next few days look the next group! You can check out all the picks in the mock draft by visiting the tag page.

DeSean Jackson at 8? I don’t think the Ravens will make the same mistake the Dolphins made last year.

These picks are based on potential impact in Madden, not a prediction of who teams will take in the actual draft.
Pasta,
As much as i like coming to see your mock draft i gotta disagree with you on some picks.
Being a DIEHARD RAVENS FAN..i can GUARANTEE you that we wont take a WR at #8
I would love for the Pats to pick up DRC, I don’t know if any of you read what happened at the Senior Bowl, but after the first day of practice QBs stopped throwing to his side. He has incredible potential, maybe one day he can be as good as Champ?
McKelvin will be the next deion sanders,,,,mark down those words. Best corner prospect in years imo. If he can learn to catch the ball he’d have double digit picks. His anticipation /break on the ball is the best that i have seen since the deion days.
As a Jets Fan, I know 100% for a fact that we will NOT draft Gholston.
werd daboss1026 im a jet fan nd im sure we wont get gholston its a toss up right now nd if mcfadden is there we can not pass on him
Yea all of you guys that say your die hard fans for that team and say they wont make that pick dont have a clue what your talking about. This is for madden not a real mock draft anyways

LOL, and I’m a Jets fan, too, and pretty well versed in my team needs. Why can’t I make awesome guarantees like that?
Also, guys, again… This is a Madden draft, as in Pasta is picking the guys that will make the most impact in Madden; he’s not projecting what each team will do in real life.
Pasta, You don’t think glen dorsey should be in the top 8? He could be the number one pick but you don’t think he could crack your top 8??? Odd. I think you probably forgot about him. I was a college defensive tackle and seeing him play truly inspired me because he was so dominant. I know for a fact his dominance will progress over to the nfl.
Yeah seriously whether its a mock or a madden impact draft??? Glenn Dorsey should be no lower then top 5.

LOL, STFU?
Also Cromartie-Rogers shouldn’t even be in the top ten. I’ve seen him play before and he was getting burnt consistenly by recievers that weren’t D-1 caliber. He has good size and speed but he lacks awareness and play making skills. Speed and size only doesn’t usually translate into greatness on madden.

I’ll explain my thinking behind that when I have him taken by a team coming up.
Lol, adjusting my thought process on basis of Madden impact; should have paid more attention.
Agree on Jets: Gholston [low 80s] opposite Ellis and now with Kris Jenkins would be big impact Madden-wise.
Agree on Pats: CBs, CBs, CBs. RC. But it will be close pickings with about 4 CBs rated as first-rounders.
Ravens: McNair started at 85; Now an 83. He’s 34 years old & rehabbing. Retirement time. Matt Ryan, coming in around 82 or 83, would be a Madden-uptick over Boller [78].

Thanks for that, way to contribute.
Shutup man. Whsts your GT? I will personally shut you up in any game you want.

nyr2k2 for everything. Though beating me at Madden or The Show or any other game for that matter won’t “shut me up” when it comes to calling out dumb “guarantees” that people make.

You’ll boo whoever you get anyway.

Very true, Eric. And Gholston isnt a need, so I can say with knowledge that we will not draft him.

If McFadden is there, he’s the guy, IMO. However, Gholston could fit as a DE in our 3-4 scheme, and it’s certainly not inconceivable that they take him for that reason. We could use another corner and another LB, but #6 is too high to take Rogers-Cromartie, McKelvin, or Rivers. A wideout would be nice as well, but again, who do you take at 6? Kelly, Jackson and Sweed are all mid-first type picks.
I’d bank on the Jets trading down and taking the best available WR, and then a corner at 36.
Check out the “Draft Muncher” at TJB; it’s pretty cool to see where all the various “experts” have each player going.

The draft is a crap shoot. Who knew the Texans were going to draft Mario Williams 1st Overall? We all thought it was Bush.
an NFL.com writer has released his Mock Draft, and this is who he has going #1:
1. Miami Dolphins
Vernon Gholston
DE, Ohio State Gholston is gathering momentum and is one of the players who has great skill, strength and potential to develop. I think Chris Long is still a strong candidate for this spot but Gholston is a rare athlete and his 30.5 tackles for loss and 22.5 sacks in the last two years may be the tip of the iceberg.
You never know.
All you Jets fans know that Vernon Gholston has a very good chance of being drafted by the Jets right.Like a 90% chance lol.

I mean, yeah, if he’s there, and the Jets don’t trade down (and McFadden is off the board), then he’s the pick.
Okay now all 3 of these picks are wrong.. The Jets are takin Darren McFadden because they need a big play runner, the Patriots are gonna take Vernon Gholston to be their edge rusher replacing Rosevelt Colvin and the Ravens have 2 good Recievers in Mark Clayton and Demetrius Williams so they dnt need Desean Jackson.. I got them takin Leodis McKelvin!!
As much as I love D-Jack(Deasean Jackson)He Aint Going to the ravens and Mckelvin Better than Rogers-Cromartie By like 5 Ratings. The Jets is Taking Mcfadden
the jets will take gholston if mcfadden goes to oakland but if mcfadden is there we will get him
