    Posted March 28th, 2014 at 10:30 am 25 Comments ╗
Usually by this point in the year not only has the upcoming Madden been officially "announced" but the marketing cycle kicked off with cover related activities. The trend of fan voting to choose representatives for the cover has lost significant steam as of late however and it seems evident now that Madden NFL 15 is unlikely to feature a tournament and may go away from fan cover selection completely.┬á (more…)...

There is really no period of irrelevance for the NFL especially now that events have been spread out further to ensure something big happens every month of the year. The next in line is the start of free agency which opens up Tuesday afternoon. Madden ratings do not fluctuate much from the final roster update of the previous season. Players may or may not come in with the same exact rating but they'll typically be within a point or two of where they stood before if changes have been made....

  • EA’s Deal With NFL No Surprise But Questions Remain Including Exclusivity Status
    Posted January 29th, 2014 at 3:30 pm 44 Comments ╗
Somewhat lost in the news yesterday that Electronic Arts has several years ahead under current deals with the NFL was the lack of specifics relating to terms. Many reports that followed have made the assumption nothing changed through the process despite evidence to the contrary. Just two years ago it was made clear that EA would not re-up without new consideration to the market value of the license and their standing as the only company prepared to release a product up the the league's stan...
  • EA Has The NFL License Secured For At Least a Few More Years
    Posted January 28th, 2014 at 2:45 pm 69 Comments ╗
In 2011 the exclusive NFL license with Electronic Arts was extended an additional year taking the deal through what would be Madden NFL 25. Given the lack of any comment from the parties speculation as to what was taking place behind the scenes has naturally occurred and rumors originating from unreliable sources have swirled. The two previous extensions were made two years in advance of expiration yet here only a matter of days remained until it would presumably end. At some point, with...
