99 rated players in Madden 08

Madden 08 screen Browns

ESPN the Magazine has revealed all of the players in Madden 08 that have a 99 overall rating.

Peyton Manning (QB Colts), Champ Bailey (CB Broncos), Walter Jones (OT Seahawks), LaDainian Tomlinson (RB Chargers), Steve Smith (WR Panthers), Brian Urlacher (LB Bears), Steve Hutchinson (OG Vikings), Ed Reed (S Ravens), Troy Polamalu (S Steelers)

The only player in that group that stands out as questionable is probably Polamalu. He certainly was the one name I didn’t expect to see in that list and someone like Adrian Wilson might be more deserving at safety. The only position not represented with a 99 (outside of specialty positions) is the defensive line. Julius Peppers or Jason Taylor would’ve made sense but must’ve just missed the cut, as well as DTs such as Marcus Stroud, Jamal Williams and Kevin Williams.

And really…shouldn’t Tom Brady be a 99 also?

That pack fan up there is an idiot. Lol. Al Harris is the second best corner in the NFL?? Haha, I agree he is a very good corner but not second best and nowhere near deserving of a 99 overall. Imo the top 5 corners in the league are Champ Bailey, Rashean Mathis, Chris McAlister, Asante Samuel, and Deangelo Hall. Ty Law and Samari Rolle are slowing down with age but Ike Taylor, Al Harris, and Marcus Trufant are getting better and better each year. The only corner deserving of a 99 overall is Champ Bailey. And btw, Chad Johnson said that Ike Taylor was the toughest corner he has ever faced, not Al Harris. And as for the “Whoever thinks Ed Reed deserves a 99 overall is an idiot” statement, you are an idiot. Watch Ed Reed play. Overall I think madden did an outstanding job choosing the 99 overalls with the exception of Steve Huthinson and not choosing Julius Peppers or Jason Taylor. gg.

lj is not deserving of a 99 maybe a 97 aand jackson had what one one good year and one great year not to reliable. and the only wr that should get a 99 is chad jhonson. steve is a pussy that only goes deep and has no other reciver but who keyshawn big deal. chad does everthing goes in the middle catches sscreens and has an outstading #2 reciver in tj whoesyourmomma. so all u all r idots and troy is a game changin in secondary just like champ but hes everywhere maybe better then reed.

Steve Smith definitely should be a 99. If you’re mentioning Harrison (who’s getting old) and Chad J. as being 99’s..well Smith is better than both of them right now.

Steve Smith definitley deserves a 99 after recovering from an injury and still putting up great numbers.

Both Chad Johnson and Steve Smith are not 99’s, both are 98s along with Harrison. They are incredible players but neither are 99s. Steve Jackson had the 5th most yards from scrimage of any player in history last year so while I dont think he is a 99 he does deserve acknowledgment. Jason Taylor should be a 99 he was the defensive player of the year, he had 10 forced fumbles and 2 touchdowns on defense. Champ, LT, and Peyton are 99 hands down. Ill give Urlacher a 99 only because it wasnt Rex who led the bears to the superbowl. Honestly I dont think any safety is worthy of a 99, Ed Reed gambles as well as goes for the big hit too much (the Houschmandzadeh play action TD from last year comes to mind) Troy and Wilson are great against the run but still struggle in coverage a bit. And while I dont want to give Brady a 99 he more with less than anyone else in the NFL. So there is my rant rip on it all you want.

You guys are all stupid the only players that should have a rating of 99 are Peyton Manning(no explanation necessary) Tom Brady(the dude does have 3 rings) and LaDanian Tomlinson(he doesnt need an explanation either) and if you think Adrian Wilson is a 99 then you should just make everyone in the game a 99.

the reason why troy polamalu is a 99 is because he ran a 4.38 yes a 4.38 ed reed ran a 4.51 troy is everywhere on every play and we can all agree on that no lie. he gets picks and can read the qb like no other which is kinda why he got drafted top 10 overall ed reed is as beast at free but hes just a notch lower than troy and sean taylor should be better than a 91

Troy Polamalu should most defenitly be a 99 overall because him and Ed Reed are by far the 2 best in the league and if Ed Reed should get a 99 then so should Polamalu because he is just as good if not better. Jacksons only had one really good year and needs to prove himself more so id say a 95-96. Young should not be in the 90’s lol he should be 87-88 at most.
