This year the “Border War” has National Championship implications as the #4 Missouri Tigers heads to take on the #2 and undefeated Kansas Jayhawks.

Continue on to read a recap of the game along with screenshots and highlight videos. This game lived up to the billing and you’ll want to check out the exciting ending.

Missouri got the ball first but quickly went three and out. A good punt return took the ball to the 50. After moving the ball down to the one yard line, on 3rd down QB #5 Todd Reesing took it in himself to give Kansas the early 7-0 lead.

Missou continued to struggle on offense as QB #10 Chase Daniel was not getting much time in the pocket. Kansas DT #93 James McClinton had three sacks in the first half. Another three and out and another PR to about mid-field but this time the Tigers forced a punt.

Finally Missouri started moving the ball and took it all the way down to the five. However they tried an option play which resulted in a fumble and Kansas recovered. The Jayhawks took it across mid-field and pulled off a fake punt on 4th down.

Unfortunately for them the drive would end with a pass getting picked off in the end zone by Missouri DB #3 Darnell Terrell.

Kansas got the ball to start the 2nd half and came up with a big scoring drive going the distance as a three yard TD run from #35 Brandon McAnderson cut the deficit to three.

Later in the 3rd Missouri would add yet another FG to make the score 23-17.

With a minute left in the 3rd it was Daniel completing a big 44 yard TD pass to WR #2 William Franklin to extend the lead to 13.

It was time for the Jayhawks to respond as their margin for error was slim. A very long and efficient drive ended at the Missouri 14 yard line when a 4th down and four yards went off the fingertips of the receiver and incomplete with only 5:29 left.

Missouri was able to get a first down but then was forced to punt with 3:40 remaining.

On first down for Missouri, Temple ran to the outside for 22 yards but was knocked out of bounds. Kansas used timeouts on the next two plays and it came to a must-stop 3rd down. Daniel tried to pass for it and it was tipped and intercepted by CB #3 Aqib Talib.

Immediately Reesing completed two big passes which took the team down to the seven yard line. It would end up coming down to the very final play of the game:
