Of this bunch of new shows premiering tonight the one that interests me is Modern Family which has received positive early buzz and reviews. Mercy, which has gotten mixed reviews, could be the biggest hit to come out of the night however. It will be interesting to see the ratings results come tomorrow.

Mercy (8pm NBC)
The day-to-day trials of Mercy Hospital are presented from the perspective of its nurses, particularly the military-hardened Veronica Callahan, whose tour in Iraq makes her more knowledgeable than the wet-behind-the-ears residents. At her side are her friends and co-workers Sonia Jimenez and Chloe Payne (Michelle Trachtenberg). (IMDB)

Modern Family (9pm ABC)
An unseen documentary filmmaker shows what it’s like to be a family in 2009 from the perspective of three couples: stressed out Claire and her husband Phil who would rather be the cool guy than parent; Mitchell and Cameron who have decided to adopt; and Jay and his Columbian bride Gloria, who seem to be deeply in love in spite of their wide age and cultural differences. (IMDB)

Cougar Town (930 ABC)
Recently divorced real estate agent Jules (Courteney Cox) seems resigned to a social life that’s restricted to drinking wine at home and embarrassing her teenage son with her unedited comments in public. But when her friends Laurie and Elle encourage her to get back “out there,” she encounters an entirely new arena where beauty and youth are everything and, from her perspective, being middle-aged and female is a liability. (IMDB)

Eastwick (10pm ABC)
An insular New England town is turned upside down when trio of women who seem to have nothing in common suddenly manifest strange powers. They soon become close friends, attracting the attention of a rich, enigmatic newcomer who seems uncannily familiar with all their innermost desires. Based on the novel and the movie The Witches of Eastwick. (IMDB)
