Earlier this year Hugh Jackman breathed life back into the Academy Awards with his performance as host. After recently stating he would not return this year the speculation started right up as to who should take over. One thing was for sure though and that was the Academy could not just go with a rehash.

Though he has hosted twice before, Steve Martin will be joined by Alec Baldwin for the 2010 Oscars. Martin has always been well liked and his opening performances have gotten big laughs. Still they could not have just had him do it on his own as viewers have been wanting a fresher experience such as the one Jackman provided.

Alec Baldwin has seen his popularity surge as of late thanks to his hilarious role in 30 Rock. He and Martin have shared the screen in one 30 Rock episode and co-star in movie It’s Complicated which will release on Christmas. Both have extensive hosting experience via Saturday Night Live with Martin having headlined 15 times and Baldwin 14 times.

The 2010 Oscars will take place on March 7th. Nominations will be announced in January.
