As expected Alice in Wonderland came in #1 having fended off four new entries in theaters. All four of them actually came in under industry expectations but in the same order that most expected. Alice has now made over $200 million but will have only one more weekend with most of the 3D screens.

Green Zone, the Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass re-teaming, came in under $15 million despite a strong marketing push and ties to the Bourne franchise. Reviews have been mixed (mine will be up today or tomorrow) and the subject matter just didn’t have nearly the same appeal. Damon’s character searches for WMD’s in Iraq and attempts to uncover a conspiracy with very heavy political undertones. Long term outlook for the the film is not great, it does not seem to be the type of movie that will draw well overseas but it could do well on DVD. It will be a struggle for it to make back its $100 million budget.

In third was She’s Out of My League, which had some positive buzz but no real recognizable stars to bank on and mixed reviews. With just about $10 million and no strong wave of word of mouth it won’t have much in the way of legs. Remember Me showed there are still questions whether Robert Pattinson can carry a film on his own as it made just $8 million. That has gotten some terrible reviews and includes an ending that has been described as shocking and exploitative. The final new movie was Our Family Wedding and made under $8 million. It’s long term prospects are bleak.
