DVD/Blu-ray Releases for Week of August 9th

Comedy is the central theme of this week’s DVD/Blu-ray releases as a few high profile ones from earlier this year arrive along with Blu-ray versions of a couple classics.

Amazon is running a deal through November 15th where ordering two of the following titles on Blu-ray will save $10: Dazed and ConfusedNational Lampoon’s Animal HouseThe Blues BrothersPaulYour Highness, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Four of those six release this week and the other two were new at the end of last month.

When Prince Fabious’s bride is kidnapped, he goes on a quest to rescue her… accompanied by his lazy useless brother Thadeous. Stars Danny McBride, Natalie Portman, James Franco

•Paul (Buy at Amazon: DVD or Blu-ray/DVD Combo)
Two British comic-book geeks traveling across the U.S. encounter an alien outside Area 51. Stars Nick Frost and Simon Pegg.

•Super (Buy at Amazon: DVD or Blu-ray)
After his wife falls under the influence of a drug dealer, an everyday guy transforms himself into Crimson Bolt, a superhero with the best intentions, though he lacks for heroic skills. Stars Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Liv Tyler.

•Mars Needs Moms (Buy at Amazon: DVD or Blu-ray/DVD Combo)
A young boy named Milo gains a deeper appreciation for his mom after Martians come to Earth to take her away. Voices of Seth Green, Joan Cusack.

•Tactical Force (Buy at Amazon: DVD or Blu-ray)
A training exercise for the LAPD SWAT Team goes terribly wrong when they find themselves pitted against two rival gangs while trapped in an abandoned Hangar, armed with nothing but blanks. Stars Steve Austin, Michael Jai White.

•Dazed and Confused (Buy Blu-ray at Amazon)
The adventures of incoming high school and junior high students on the last day of school, in May of 1976.

•Fast Times at Ridgemont High (Buy Blu-ray at Amazon)
A story of a group of California teenagers who enjoy malls, sex and rock n’ roll.
