Source Code Being Developed as TV Series

The sci-fi thriller from earlier this year, Source Code, will be adapted into a television series for CBS. Shaping up to be a procedural the show will follow three former federal agents who use the “Source Code” in order to infiltrate tragic events of the past. The movie received mostly positive reviews and performed decently at the box office.

I’m not sure how this will work though if it follows the rules of the film. Conceptually it will need to be drastically different as the movie wasn’t about changing the past but instead finding the necessary information to prevent a future attack – and they only had a small window of time at a specific point in their present day to do so. I don’t see how they could come up with weekly scenarios where that would apply and be compelling enough to drive any suspense. More likely they’ll dumb it down and use the “Source Code” to somehow change a past event or affect something from happening in the future but on a much smaller scale.
