While an opening day roster update has yet to arrive for NBA 2K17 there are two features tied to the day-to-day of the league that were activated this morning following the first night of action. The returning NBA Today and the new 'Start Today' for the franchise modes are now functioning. 'Start Today' is the new feature for MyLeague and MyGM which allows for a franchise to begin with real-life league standings and statistics up to the day in question. Someone who would use 'Start Today...
  • Major issues persist with NBA 2K17 Pro-Am

Last year 2K Sports attempted to launch the NBA 2K series as an eSport, however the mode chosen to do so and poor structure in place resulted in a totally flawed competition. Rampant cheating, advantages to those who paid money, and a patch that altered play mid-event all contributed to the disaster. The 2K Pro-Am didn't change much for NBA 2K17 but new problems have arisen and others have lingered since launch.  (more…)...

The second post-release patch for NBA 2K17 has just gone live on PlayStation 4 and is expected to reach Xbox One in the near future. It's another massive update at 7.1 GB - the same as the first which went out in late September on PS4 and just last week on XB1. [Update 10/14] The patch is now also available on Xbox One and PC. This latest patch intends to fix the shot meter which has been improperly registering release timing. Recent gameplay tuning updates have been used to try and compe...
  • NBA 2K17 tuning update looks to bring outside shooting percentages back to reality

One of the bigger complaints about NBA 2K17 in the over two weeks since it has released has regarded shooting percentages, particularly when the shots are being contested. That has been at least somewhat addressed in a gameplay tuning update that went live over the weekend. Gameplay director Mike Wang provided details on some of the changes that have been made to shooting as well as CPU defense: ♦The main change was redefining what the game considers open vs covered vs crowded. Sometim...

The first post-release patch for NBA 2K17 has gone live on PlayStation 4 and will be arriving soon on Xbox One. It's a massive download coming in at 7.1 GB so what's been done is considerable and affects gameplay and the various franchise and online modes. Observations of fixes so far include substitutions made during timeouts (players enter immediately instead of having to wait for the next dead ball situation) and the courts for the Knicks and Bucks. What it hasn't done is completely s...
  • Many still missing major piece to NBA 2K17’s pre-order incentive

2K Sports leveraged the pre-order bonuses for NBA 2K17 throughout the summer as practically the only way in which they were attempting to sell the game. The company stressed the inclusion of the 1992 Dream Team more than anything else yet most of those who bought the game still find themselves without the team. 10 days now have passed since 2K17's release and based on the number of consumers inquiring about the team missing through social media, and a poll run over the weekend, the Dream ...

  • Review of NBA 2K17

NBA 2K17 faced the difficult task of following up an all-time great basketball game and adjusting to the changing landscape of the NBA. The influence of Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors is undeniable with 2K17. That includes new ratings categories, higher shooting percentages, and a 'dynamic duo' theme. Additional ways to start and play through the franchise modes are welcome and the story mode thankfully incorporates career elements with the rookie season instead being locked away ...
