  • First screenshots for NBA 2K17 feature Team USA for Rio Olympics and 1992 Dream Team
    Posted July 30th, 2016 at 3:30 pm 15 Comments »
It's somewhat hard to believe but with NBA 2K17 releasing earlier than all but one league-licensed NBA game ever before there aren't even seven full weeks to go now until it's out. The announcement of this year's Olympic Men's National Team made on Wednesday however didn't even bring with it the first screenshot from 2K17. Later that day though the Team USA website included the first look at the game which had all sorts of graphical errors most notable among them players embarrassingly ...
  • 3on3 Freestyle now slated for end of summer release
Posted July 28th, 2016 at 5:00 pm No Comments »
It has been an interesting journey for publisher JoyCity in taking the street basketball Freestyle series from PC to console. 3on3 Freestyle, coming only to the PlayStation 4, was supposed to release in May but it took until the very last day of that month for the company to announce a delay. The plan then became about a "beta" for the summer. The first update since then has now been made on what is happening with the unlicensed game. 3on3 Freestyle will release "at the end of the summer...
  • 2016 Olympic Team and 92 Dream Team made official for NBA 2K17
    Posted July 27th, 2016 at 6:15 am 6 Comments »
Four years ago in NBA 2K13 the 2012 Men's National Team and 1992 Dream Team were featured. When Paul George was revealed as the cover athlete for NBA 2K17, and the cover included him wearing a Team USA jersey, it became clear that this year's team would be part of the upcoming game. Today 2K Sports confirmed that along with the return of the 1992 Dream Team as part of the pre-order bonus. The official release from 2K Sports failed to mention any new unique ways in which the teams will be ...

2K Sports today unveiled the first new feature to expect with NBA 2K17. League Expansion is being added to MyGM and MyLeague that will allow for them to grow to as large as 36 teams. Additionally, seen in the screenshot above, you'll be able to start franchises in new ways with a "Start Today" option and Playoffs mode.  (more…)...
  • NBA Live Mobile now officially released
    Posted July 5th, 2016 at 4:00 pm 3 Comments »
With EA Sports taking some time away from the NBA Live series on consoles in its place this year is NBA Live Mobile. The game first released in February with a Canadian soft launch. Reception from players was generally very positive and my review expressed a similar sentiment towards the free-to-play game based off the Ultimate Team model. A recent update however changed the way lineups are handled angering those who had invested in playing beforehand. A lot of time and possibly money ...
  • NBA 2K17 will have an all-time great video game team in the Golden State Warriors
    Posted July 4th, 2016 at 9:45 am 20 Comments »
Did you think the 73-9 Golden State Warriors were a powerhouse in NBA 2K16? Well, prepare yourself for 2K17, as Kevin Durant is coming to make them even more unstoppable and basically the only team you'll ever see used online. The Warriors now have four All-Stars in Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. The last three MVPs reside on the team (Curry and Durant). The closest thing to what has been formed with the Warriors would probably be the 2003-04 Los Angeles...
  • Play with an updated roster that includes the rookies in NBA 2K16
    Posted June 25th, 2016 at 11:00 am 3 Comments »
The NBA Draft just took place on Thursday but you don't necessarily have to wait until NBA 2K17 in mid-September to start playing with the incoming rookies. User-created rosters are available to download right now in NBA 2K16. These rosters feature all the rookies on their new teams plus other transactions so far for the league year, including the moves of Derrick Rose to the Knicks, Jeff Teague to the Pacers, and Serge Ibaka to the Magic. In order to download the rosters go to Feature...
  • EA may have ruined the good thing they had going with latest update to NBA Live Mobile
    Posted June 24th, 2016 at 12:15 pm 5 Comments »
When it initially launched I called NBA Live Mobile the best thing NBA Live since 2009 and gave it a positive review on Sporting News. Many agreed considering the game had fantastic user-scores. It was averaging well over 4 stars on iOS and sat at an impressive 4.6 on Android. That's all changed with a recent update that was made to the game that has resulted in a wave of 1 star reviews rolling in instead. The current updated version has a horrendous average rating of 2 stars on iTunes....
