NFL Flick Quarterback Impressions
The line of "Flick" games from Full Fat on iOS and Android have become really popular this year. Though simple they are well designed and have the quick and addictive nature that is critical for success on mobile devices.
NFL Flick Quarterback arrived for the iPad ($4.99) and iPhone and Android ($2.99) in late November and since then it has become one of my go-to-games when there are a few minutes to burn. Right now a holiday sale is ongoing and all versions are 99 cents! (more...)...

Icebreaker Comes to Android
After releasing in June on iOS Icebreaker Hockey is now available on Android. From NaturalMotion (the makers of Backbreaker/NFL Rivals) comes Icebreaker - the goal of the game is to skate away from oncoming defenders and score while gaining points for doing so in style. Our review cited it as as a fun but somewhat unispired mini-game that will be familiar to those who played Backbreaker.
Icebreaker Hockey goes for $2.99 on the Android Market - and is now just 99 cents for the iPhone, iPod...

FIFA 12 iPhone Review
By Brian Sipple
When Manchester United star Wayne Rooney announced this June that he underwent a hair transplant to fix a receding hairline worthy of making LeBron cringe, some fans wondered if he should be more focused on the issues behind his mild 2010-11 season slump. It turns out all he needed was a slight confidence booster. Just 7 games into the Premier League season, Rooney has shown a new found swagger and has racked up 9 goals in Man U’s red hot start.
Last year’s FIFA 11 fo...

NBA 2K12 Coming to iOS
For the first time the NBA 2K series is heading to mobile devices. NBA 2K12 will be releasing for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad next Tuesday. The news comes via CNET who praises the presentation, signature shot animations, and level of content included but was less impressed with the graphics and player control options.
Features include Season and Playoff modes, 'The Jordan Challenge', leaderboards, and two different control schemes. 'The Jordan Challenge' will be familiar to those who...

FIFA 12 Now Available for iOS Devices
Along with the release of the console versions earlier this week comes FIFA 12 for iOS. Last year FIFA 11 drew high marks for its graphics and solid gameplay - but the level of content and the controls were thought to be lacking. Considering that it appears that EA has looked to address those concerns head-on.
Featuring 22 leagues and 500 teams FIFA 12 for iOS for the first time includes 'Manager Mode'. It is also said to have improved graphics, animations, and more responsive and engagin...

Madden NFL 12 Mobile Version Receiving Heavy Criticism
It was somewhat of a surprise when Madden NFL 12 for iOS released a month ago and was found to have taken a step back from the generally well-received Madden NFL 11. In fact Madden 11 won the community award for last year's "Best Mobile Game". Along the way something went terribly wrong with Madden 12 - even though there was little actually added to the game it didn't deliver on the promise of improved graphics and gameplay.
In our review it was stated that "the game is essentially a rost...

NFL Rivals iPhone Review
By Brian Sipple
With EA Sports’ exclusive console deal with the NFL not ending until 2014, and no present news of any other interested parties, it’s easy to forget that mobile gaming is still an open range for NFL licensing. So far this has given us NFL branded titles like Gameloft’s NFL 2010 and NFL 2011, however both received average reviews and never managed to take off commercially.
Natural Motion’s Backbreaker has been the only other football title to “go mainstream” but...

NFL Rivals Now Available on iOS
From NaturalMotion - the developers behind Backbreaker and Icebreaker - comes NFL Rivals on the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad for $2.99. With licensed NFL teams (not players or stadiums) and league branding it acts essentially as an update to Backbreaker 2: Vengeance. Players have been skinned in the NFL uniforms and a social leaderboard has been added to track pooled progress during the season as performing for certain teams against that week's actual opponent will help to move them up the r...

Madden NFL 12 Mobile Review
By Brian Sipple
Surreal as it may seem, we’re finally here. After Ray Lewis’ crime warnings, Ochocinco’s multi-sport pursuits, James Harrison’s disregard for fire safety, and non-stop negotiation, the NFL has finally decided how to demarcate its billions bedding concerns that the game’s exploding popularity would come grinding to a halt. While not quite on par the NFL’s labor strife, EA Sports has seen its share of recent volatility amongst its leadership at a time when the comp...
