    Posted May 21st, 2009 at 10:38 am
The demo for Tiger Woods 10 is out today for both the 360 and PS3. It includes the ability to play two holes at Bethpage Black the site of this year's US Open, and two holes at Turnberry which will host this year's British Open. There is also the option to try the new Tournament Challenge mode with the 17th hole at Sawgrass playable. Making the demo even deeper is the practice round mode where users can place the ball anywhere desired on the course. No wonder then the demo comes in at over a...
  • Looking Ahead to E3

E3 is now just three weeks away! The gaming expo takes place on June 2nd-4th with some conferences (MS/Sony/Nintendo/EA?) happening on the 1st. This E3 is making an attempt to return to the glory days as opposed to the last couple years and the publishers are responding. EA Sports is expected to have some game related announcements including the new online modes for Madden 10 at this E3. In the days leading up to E3 I'll have more details on what to expect both in terms of the games and c...
  • Tiger Woods 10: Play the Pros Online Mode

For the first time the Wii version of a sports game has been taking precedence over the 360/PS3 version as seen with Tiger Woods 10. Given that golf is a natural fit for the Wii and its motion control it is the rare example where sales are strongest on the Wii. Maybe then it shouldn't be a surprise that it is receiving the most attention especially given the release of Wii MotionPlus. That will greatly enhance the Tiger Woods 10 experience and having an exclusive bundle with the controller a...
  • Recent Trailers: NCAA, Madden Wii, Tiger Wii
    by pastapadre

Everything surrounding the events in New York last week and the subsequent coverage coming out of them caused me to bypass posting up some recent trailers. They include ones for NCAA Football 10, Madden 10 on the Wii, and Tiger Woods 10 on the Wii. For NCAA and Madden they are the debut trailers while the Tiger video shows off the new disc golf mode. Until recently when the inclusion of disc golf into Tiger was being discussed I had never even heard of it. Apparently it is one of the fast...
  • EA Sports To Go Digital Delivery Only for PC

In an interview with Edge which can be read here Peter Moore discusses a variety of topics including the PC market. Of note is that they will no longer be producing disc based offerings for the PC. We really want to keep sports an important part of the portfolio that’s available to PC gamers, but the business model right now, shipping a physical disc for the PC, simply isn’t working for us. And along the context of making the right choices with our resources and making sure that we’re...
  • EA Contemplating Dedicated MLS Game
    by pastapadre
    Posted April 22nd, 2009 at 5:30 am
An article today discussing the success of the Seattle Sounders and the team's sponsorship with Xbox 360 mentions that EA Sports has been in early talks to create a game for the league. MLS teams have been included in FIFA but they could potentially do a lot more with it as its own dedicated game. We believe there's a natural connection between our sport and their games, and there have been initial talks, very preliminary, but that's something that both sides will have to look at. It has bee...
  • EA Sports Titles Coming To iPhone
    by pastapadre
    Posted March 27th, 2009 at 6:22 am
This week at GDC the announcement was made that EA was bringing several of its franchises to the iPhone. Notably many EA Sports titles are planned to be released this year including Madden 10, NBA Live 10, FIFA 10, and Tiger Woods 10. IGN has a hands-on article with Tiger from their time with it at GDC. This game looks incredibly similar to a PSP title with nary a corner cut. The golfer model was lean and mean with excellent swing animations. I was particularly curious to try out the swing ...
  • PSN Bandwidth Charges May Explain No MME on PS3
    by pastapadre
    Posted March 20th, 2009 at 2:24 pm
When the March Madness edition of NCAA Basketball 09 was announced many people wondered why it was exclusive to the Xbox 360. EA Sports didn't make any comments as to the reasoning behind that. News that came out today though may provide the basis for why that decision was made. MTV has an article about how publishers have become frustrated with the charging of bandwidth fees for both paid and free content on Sony's Playstation Network. It appears that this is another (unrealized) benefit...
