  • Madden NFL 12 Superstar Mode Impressions

The career mode in the Madden series has been largely left to rot over recent years and though it received some attention in Madden NFL 12 it fails to provide any intrigue. Putting aside Online Franchise which went untouched Superstar mode is the most disappointing aspect of Madden 12 and pales in comparison to the flawed but improved Road to Glory in NCAA Football 12.  (more…)...

Having played Madden NFL 12 extensively at E3 (check out my full impressions here) the demo didn't offer a whole lot new - in fact it feels as though a step backwards has been taken. Though no exacts have been given regarding the timing of the build used for the demo it likely comes from May or June and may predate the E3 build. Hopefully that is the case. Regardless though it's important to evaluate what is available and in doing so the feedback could be implemented in the release day patch...

With NCAA Football 12 EA Sports made some prominent feature additions that were directed primarily at the more hardcore fans of the series while promising some important improvements to gameplay. Following up on Sunday's full impressions posting what did NCAA Football 12 deliver on and where did it go wrong? Find out in this 'Hits and Misses' review.  (more…)...

With an online integrated feature as deep as Online Dynasty in NCAA Football, the series' suite online play options automatically starts at a floor higher than any other sports title to date. With the typical ranked games, unranked with numerous options, Teambuilder, and more there is no shortage of features. With NCAA Football 12 the Online Dynasty has gotten even better and general online play so far has been stable which is encouraging for the days ahead.  (more…)...
  • MLB Bobblehead Pros: Hits and Misses

MLB Bobblehead Pros arrived on the Xbox Live Marketplace last week (PSN release upcoming) for $10. Made by Konami, the game basically takes the well regarded Power Pros series and re-skins the player models as 'bobbleheads' for the HD consoles. The series has always been a sim at heart despite the cartooney look and that tradition lives on with MLB Bobblehead Pros. Considering the price point there is a lot of content being offered with the promise of more support coming down the line throug...

Yesterday I posted my overall impressions of NCAA Football 12 and included some brief thoughts on Road to Glory mode. Largely neglected since debuting as 'Race for the Heisman' in NCAA Football 06 and also going by the 'Campus Legend' name for a few iterations the career mode now adds in motivating factors establishing more of an investment in progression for users however some underlying issues remain. NCAA Football 12 has experienced its share of ups and downs in the lead-up to its Tuesday release. The series continues to present one of the strongest feature sets amongst sports games and comes off a well-regarded iteration. It has stumbled in the last month or so however as EA Sports committed several missteps that hampered anticipation levels and followed that with notable indications of desperation on their part to build back some excitement. After spending an extensive amount of time a...

Judging from community reaction the demo for NCAA Football 12 has been received relatively well though it hasn't seemed to inspire much excitement. From from a gameplay and presentation standpoint NCAA Football is maybe becoming all too familiar but the franchise still carries one of the strongest feature sets amongst all the yearly sports offerings which would seem to be enough to keep it on high ground.
