OMG PASTA! THE FRAMERATE IN 2K10 IS HORRIBLE! IT'S ALMOST UNPLAYABLE! THIS IS COMING FROM SOMEONE WHO LOVES 2K BASKETBALL! WHY DIDN'T YOU LET US KNOW HOW BAD THE FRAMERATE IS? I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW BAD IT IS! IT DROPS ON EVERY CAMERA ANGLE! OMG I'M SO DISAPPOINTED RIGHT NOW! I'M ABOUT TO TAKE IT BACK & GET LIVE BECAUSE I CAN'T EVEN PLAY A MINUTE WITHOUT THE FRAMERATE DROPPING! I'M SO PISSED RIGHT NOW!
October 6, 2009 at 10:15 am
and that's why 2k sucks this year.
October 6, 2009 at 1:14 pm
So that makes live what? If a 9.1(2k) sucks then I would hate to know what a 8.2(live) is. Of course we have our own opinion, so IMO live is the lesser of the two, but who cares gamefly already shipped em both 2 me. Peace!
October 6, 2009 at 1:06 pm
Here we go with the take it back and get live, first of all how can you take a game back that isn't released yet? huh. Nice try bashing 2k on the cool, want sway me though, I'll be picking up my copy tomorrow. Holla!
October 6, 2009 at 1:41 pm
There are early releases of the game. I got my 2K10 copy yesterday, just didn't have time to play it.
October 6, 2009 at 7:02 pm
I mentioned framerate over and over having to do with My Player. I didn't notice much of anything in regular games from broadcast camera, but did say the closer camera angles see more of it. While I didn't experience the framerate problems some are reporting in regular games, if it didn't jump out at me I can't talk about it in my impressions. Imagine the heat I would've taken if I had talked more about it!

Good find.
October 6, 2009 at 12:21 pm
Wow, besides the faces being spot-on, the "depth of field" effect looks GREAT! They took that blur right from Madden this year…can't wait til lunch.

I can't believe i am saying this since I have been the biggest Live hater over the years, but I just got a copy of Live 10 from Amazon (it is selling at $49.99 and I had a 50 dollar gift card). Really was impressed by the demo and all the coverage. I still probably slightly prefer 2K, but I didn't really feel like the changes in this year's game warranted a purchase.
October 6, 2009 at 3:36 pm
live=realism this year love it
October 6, 2009 at 4:33 pm
Oh wow, this game is fun, feels like a true sim. I played on Superstar mode as the Lakers, and was down by 15 against the Clippers at the half. The Clippers smaller lineup/second unit came in guns blazing and running the floor, and I just couldn't keep up. Thinking I'll have to play on All-Star mode until I'm ready to play on Superstar level. The substitutions are pretty nice and even as well, as I went through 11 players (I think Brown was the only one who didn't get playing time in the first half).
October 6, 2009 at 7:51 pm
yeah the sub system is very ool in the game
October 6, 2009 at 4:50 pm
Honestly i went out and bought live and 2k today and live is by far the better one(so far) the graphics are FUCKING AMAZING it seem like they changed em since the demo whoever said live looks like a cartoon is either lying, hating, retarded or blind best basketball game to date and i think best graphics in a sports game when i can get my ass beat by at least 11 points a game by the computer and still have fun u kno its a great game

Posting impressions as I play the game. I found the speed of the game to be a little too fast, which seemed to make the game a little jerky at some points, so I'm modified the slider to a few clicks slower, and that's helped out tremendously. Definitely not enough fouls called, I may have to modify the sliders for that. Every single in air collision should be a charge or a blocking foul, and an occasionally no call. I guess the Live developers saw this as a possible cheat antic, especially online so I can kind of understand that.
The arena crowd is way too loud and it drowns out the commentary and whistles. In a live broadcast, you'll hear the commentary above a crowds noise level, so I modified the slider for crowd sound by a couple notches and the same thing for arena sounds. Now I can hear the commentators more clearly while simultaneously catching the atmosphere of the crowd.

Wow I'm really impressed with Live! It's way better than I thought it was going to be. Pasta vids don't do the game justice! You have to play it yourself! I would even go as far as to say it might be better than 2K this year! Again I've bashed Live for the pass 4 years but this year is a whole new ball game! I got them both last night at Walmart & 2K's framerate problem is a huge issue! It makes the game almost unplayable & it's inexcusable! 2K has a little better presentation than Live (with the dynamic commentary & in game score & stat updates) but Live controls so much better. Live just feels better to me. Only if Live could have as many animations as 2K ( not having put back dunks is huge bummer) then Live would be better than 2K hands down this year! Next year could be a rap for 2K & this is coming from a 2K basketball fan!

Imagine the riot that would've occurred if I had said that in my impressions of the games lol. Its true though. I understand how people could enjoy 2K10 more, but the framerate problems and poor defense and high shooting percentages and exploitable gameplay and terrible online could be detractions. Live has a bunch of issues also, but they all seemed like they could be overlooked or patched.

Bought Live today and I'm LOVING IT! First time choosing Live over 2K and I'm not disappointed. Gameplay is off the hook. You really have to pay attention to what you're doing to keep from turning the ball over, but isn't that how it's supposed to be anyway? Fouls were a little low so that my have to be upped with a slider adjustment, but other than that it plays great.
Also, read somewhere that stats were a little off with the Dynasty simulated games (i.e extrememly high and low scores) Haven't simmed enough to notice yet. Anyone else have an opportunity to check the sims stats to see if this is true? I did see a 140-130 game and a 55-80 game, but those aren't too far out of the realm of possibility, but if it happens too often could be an issue.
Anyway, both games look great this year. Can't go wrong with either, although I think the framerate thing with 2K would get annoying afterwhile.
PEACE

is the 2k franhise in trouble? I wonder how they do finanially
October 6, 2009 at 8:44 pm
I highly doubt it, look for 2k to take it again in sales this year,
October 6, 2009 at 8:53 pm
Just got both games from gamefly, so far it seems like more people are digging 2k. Member Rating: 9.2 (80 ratings) for 2k, Member Rating: 8.0 (30 ratings) for live. But who cares, I already got both.
October 6, 2009 at 9:00 pm
Went with 2k this year, and so far IM LOVIN IT! Still haven't found any issues with the framerate as stated by pasta, Its not like I play online anyways. Association and my player mode will keep me plenty busy.
October 6, 2009 at 9:10 pm
Well I like it, but I'm looking for something more dynamic next year. Such as Kobe playing the whole 1st and 3rd quarters, and not coming back in until the 8 minute mark of the 2nd and 4th quarters in a tight game.
I like 2K's allocation of minutes which is pretty awesome.
Just played my third regular season game as the Lakers, 3-0 on All-Star mode. Last game vs. Hawks 102-99 (12 minute quarters). No double digit lead is safe in this game! Can't get laxed! Best part of winning a game at Staples Center, is that if your trying to keep a team under 100 points the crowd will chant "We Want Tacos!" Thought that was a nice touch.
October 6, 2009 at 9:15 pm
Pasta,
I feel that out the box live is pretty well made this year, but I'm working on some sliders and settings (such as slower game speed, more fouls etc).
I feel with the game at a slower speed, the animations branch out a little better and feels more fluid.
Played 3, 12 minute quarter games…can't believe how fast this afternoon just flew by. I think the most I've scored is 107, and all 3 of my opponents (Clippers, Mavericks and Hawks) were in the 95-99 range. No double digit blow outs yet…on All-Star mode. Superstar mode on 12 minutes is no joke.
October 6, 2009 at 9:38 pm
what is the framerate problems your talking bout pasta? what does that exactly mean? i dunno if i understand what it means. im not a crazy gamer but that sounds bad? what should i get live or 2k? had 2k last yr it was my first game for ps3
October 10, 2009 at 10:21 am
i also cant wait to pass this dumb game and buy 2k which is way better as proven by everyone.
