Earlier in January a deal on NBA Live 18 brought the game down to its lowest price point ever of just $7.49 but only on Xbox One. That same deal has now reached the PS4 and will be available for the next week to PSPlus subscribers. Given the turbulence of the series over the last decade there was never a chance that NBA Live 18 would sell many copies no matter how good the game would turn out to be. Given the turbulence of the series over the last decade there was never a chance that NBA Live 18 would sell many copies no matter how good the game would turn out to be. Skepticism from consumers was more than justified and its competitor too popular and well established. Instead the goal for EA Sports was always to regain some credibility and slowly bring more people on board through word-of-mouth and by playing with the price. A pre-order discount making the game $40 was the first stra...

The NBA revealed the new Nike City Edition jerseys on Wednesday, NBA Live 18 got them in yesterday, and now NBA 2K18 has added most of the City jerseys to the game through a roster update. Four teams - the Heat, Knicks, Raptors and Rockets - are missing from the group however. In mid-December 2K18 mistakenly leaked all 30 of the new uniforms before quickly removing them until the teams could reveal them officially.  (more…)...

Given that NBA 2K18 mistakenly leaked all the Nike 'City Edition' jerseys two weeks ago it's ironic that NBA Live 18 is the first of the two games to roll them out officially. The new jerseys were revealed by NBA teams yesterday and in an update out now for Live 18 those new designs are fully available for use.  (more…)...

Last month NBA Live 18 was available for $15 on both PS4 and Xbox One which was a great price for a game featuring a really strong career mode, enjoyable gameplay, and absence of pressure/necessity to spend more money on an in-game currency. Now the price is even better on PS4 where the game can be had for just $10. This sale is expected to last until December 26 and is available to PlayStation Plus subscribers....
  • Policing of user-created content in NBA 2K18 was an inevitability

When publishers provide the ability for consumers to customize elements in their video games and share it with others they become vulnerable to legal action should they not closely monitor it for any inappropriate content or trademark violations and respond to takedown requests from rights holders. That makes what is happening right now in NBA 2K18 a predictable outcome, as Kotaku reports that players of the game are expressing frustration over the removal of user-created t-shirts that featu...

The NBA Live series has lacked the ability to edit players going all the way back to the reboot that was NBA Live 14. Despite being one of the most requested features by the basketball gaming community EA Sports failed to provide player editing abilities in the titles that have since followed including this year's NBA Live 18. Now though, with a post-release patch that released today, player editing has returned to the Live franchise.  (more…)...
