It may be post-Super Bowl and nearing time for the new league year to open but Madden NFL 18 is still being improved upon. A new patch for the game released today, and is another example of what has helped the series win the PCA for Best Post-Release Support for three consecutive years. This new update primarily addresses gameplay. (more…)...
  • $20 GOAT Super Bowl Edition of Madden NFL 18 includes bonus Ultimate Team content
    Posted January 19th, 2018 at 1:30 pm 4 Comments »
This marks the fourth consecutive year that EA Sports has released a Super Bowl Edition of Madden NFL on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It's a smart move on their part as a simple limited-time price drop is not nearly as marketable as a "special" edition that packs in bonus Ultimate Team content that costs them nothing. For PS Plus and XBL Gold members the Super Bowl Edition of Madden NFL 18 can be purchased for $19.80 with availability through the end of the month. That's an all-time low pr...
  • Mutant Football League available now on Xbox One and PlayStation 4
Posted January 19th, 2018 at 9:15 am No Comments »
It was a long wait of 25 years since the original Mutant League Football released to get a sequel or in this case a "spiritual successor" but that day has finally come. Mutant Football League has now reached consoles after first coming out in late 2017 just on PC. The game is being sold for $20 (XB1 - PS4) which is $5 cheaper than it was first priced at for PC. Those who contributed to the Kickstarter at a tier that included a copy of the game should be receiving a digital download code ...
  • Madden NFL 18 roster update details following Wild Card Weekend
    Posted January 11th, 2018 at 3:15 pm 2 Comments »
The roster update reflecting performances through Wild Card Weekend is now available to download in Madden NFL 18. Typically once into the playoffs the ratings changes implemented will primarily affect those participating in the postseason games with a few random lingering adjustments being made to players who have finished their season. Strangely this update is made up mostly of changes to the ratings of punters, many of which have seen fairly dramatic adjustments to their Awareness and ...
  • Details on the first patch of the new year for Madden NFL 18
    Posted January 9th, 2018 at 5:00 pm 8 Comments »
EA Sports today released yet another patch for Madden NFL 18. There's only a few changes but they could be significant as they directly impact gameplay. Besides one fix to random instances where CPU ball-carriers would run super slowly it appears they are primarily directed at balancing with the competitive eSports and online head-to-head crowd particularly in mind. ♦Addressed an issue that was causing some AI controlled ball carriers to move slowly and/or not perform special moves ♦...
  • Madden NFL 18 roster update details following end of regular season
    Posted January 6th, 2018 at 9:00 am 3 Comments »
The roster update reflecting performances through the end of the regular season is now available to download in Madden NFL 18. More players than usual were left untouched by the update but instead this one seems to have focused on players that were reevaluated as over or underrated when taking their season-long performance into consideration. Among that group of players would be DeMarcus Lawrence (+2 to 94), Todd Gurley (+2 to 91 and now 4th highest rated running back), Dez Bryant (-2 to ...
  • Mutant Football League releasing on PS4 and Xbox One this month
    Posted January 2nd, 2018 at 3:15 pm 2 Comments »
Having debuted in late October for PC the return of Mutant Football League (in spiritual successor form to 1993's Mutant League Football) will be complete when it reaches consoles later this month. Mutant Football League now has an official digital release date of January 19 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game (which I reviewed on PC) is rough around the edges but features some elements missing from the genre for far too long. Those who paid into a Kickstarter tier for a copy of th...
  • NCAA Football 14 sims the 2017-18 College Football Playoff games
    Posted December 30th, 2017 at 1:45 pm 7 Comments »
Over four years have passed since NCAA Football 14 released and yet returning to it reminds me how incredibly well it holds up in how it looks, plays, differentiates styles and even projects outcomes. With updated rosters NCAA went 5-1 last year predicting the crucial Conference Championship games and the three College Football Playoff games. Once again I turned to NCAA 14 for insight on the upcoming CFP games. Included are game summaries, statistics, key takeaways, and video highlights. ...
