Posted August 3rd, 2020 at 2:00 pm No Comments »
Just over a month ago the Madden community stood up and together forced EA Sports to address Franchise Mode in the Madden which has largely been neglected throughout this generation. Referring to it as "Classic Franchise" signaled that was going to continue in the years ahead. The #FixMaddenFranchise movement was discussed in detail on an episode of the Press Row Podcast and already there have been significant developments that are encouraging though there is a long way to go to actually see...
  • Changes being made for Madden NFL 21 following beta feedback
Posted July 29th, 2020 at 12:00 pm No Comments »
The beta held in early July for Madden NFL 21 generated feedback that will hopefully lead to a better game at launch. Much of the discussion around the game during the beta period centered on a divisive player ability called "Film Study," an inexplicable change to controls, deficiencies in pass coverage, and sluggish user movement on defense. In response "Film Study" is gone at least for release, controls have been switched back, coverage has received adjustments, and no changes are being...

  • ‘Classic’ Franchise takes backseat to Face of the Franchise in Madden NFL 21
Posted June 30th, 2020 at 1:00 pm No Comments »
Last week when EA Sports let it be known that a developer blog would be releasing for Face of the Franchise along with Franchise Mode being referred to as 'Classic Franchise' it was obvious the outlook on the latter was bleak. That justified pessimism was confirmed today as FOTF has received the bulk of the attention in Madden NFL 21 with Franchise barely getting what could even be considered a patch-caliber update. EA renamed Madden NFL 21's Franchise to "Classic Franchise"...
  • Extended look at the gameplay changes coming for Madden NFL 21
Posted June 23rd, 2020 at 9:15 am No Comments »
Early last week EA Sports unveiled the primary new features for Madden NFL 21. That news came prior to the next-gen PlayStation 5/Xbox Series X debut trailer and info on hardware-related enhancements but the basic game details will be essentially the same regardless of which system or generation it is to be played on. It was an underwhelming if not disappointing initial reveal of things that have all seemingly been promoted for past Madden titles. Now the publisher has rolled out what is ...
  • EA Play 2020 introduces first look at Next-Gen
Posted June 18th, 2020 at 5:00 pm No Comments »
Electronic Arts held the annual EA Play event earlier today and did so remotely with a pre-taped production. As expected upcoming sports games premiered first looks accompanied by additional details including release news. It is notable however that there was just a single trailer shown during the presentation and only featured two of the four upcoming titles. Madden NFL 21 and FIFA 21 had the premiere of a next-gen trailer with a glimpse at the games for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. ...
  • First trailer and features have been unveiled for Madden NFL 21
Posted June 16th, 2020 at 7:15 am No Comments »
EA Sports today debuted the first look at Madden NFL 21 with the release of a trailer and some feature details. Hopefully something more substantial will come out of EA Play on Thursday because this is a shallow and arcadey introduction to Madden NFL 21. Additionally the publisher confirmed owners of the PS4 version will be upgraded for free when moving onto PlayStation 5 matching the offer for those on Xbox One to Series X. Face of the Franchise – Rise to Fame Face of the Franchise ...
  • NFL set to yet again extend EA Sports’ exclusive license for Madden
Posted May 22nd, 2020 at 4:45 pm No Comments »
Exclusivity for the NFL video game license on consoles is on the table yet again with a new agreement in place to continue on with EA Sports. The league's owners will vote on the proposal next week where it is all but certain to pass carrying the exclusive license for sim games through Madden NFL 26. This was always an inevitability despite some who may have viewed the recent 2K news as a sign that they would be slipping in to create a competing product or take over the license after Madd...
