    E3 is now just about six weeks away and companies are beginning to make their plans known. Electronic Arts will be out in full force with the usual press conference on Monday, June 10 at 1PT and on the show floor with sports games including Madden NFL 25, NCAA Football 14, FIFA 14, and NHL 14 (no mention yet of NBA Live 14 or UFC). Two other companies though are approaching things differently this year. 2K Games won't have any presence on the show floor which is a departure from the norm....

    EA Sports has struggled with communicating just what Connected Careers in Madden NFL 13 is all about and going with a new name to reflect the revolutionary advancement is playing a big part in that. Confusion still abounds from those believing the company has "removed Franchise mode" and any recognition of what is actually being offered remains cloudy at best.     The last thing EA Sports needed for NBA Live 13 was increased skepticism and negativity. That's exactly what they got however at E3 as report after report pegged Live as a let down - even ESPN called it the biggest disappointment at the event.  (more…)...

    EA Sports picking up the UFC license from THQ was arguably the single biggest surprise announcement to come out of E3 this year. It's been widely recognized for some time now that THQ as a company is in dire straits and - like Take Two and their handling of sports - they have a desire to get out from under the significant costs inherent in licenses.     Here is the third and final batch of Madden NFL 13 gameplay videos captured from the show floor of E3. These specific ones were grabbed within the first few hours of the first day so user play is somewhat behind those that were posted yesterday - it took some time to adjust to the improved defensive play.     Here is a second set of Madden NFL 13 videos capture at E3. One more post tomorrow will contain the remainder of the videos including a stretch that amounts to just about an entire game.     Here is the top 25 ranking of teams in NCAA Football 13 as grabbed from the show floor at E3. Defending National Champion Alabama leads the way despite five teams actually being rated higher in the game. The biggest discrepancy comes with Texas who got a 99 overall rating but are only ranked 22nd. The lowest rated team to make the top 25 is West Virginia at 87 overall who are all the way up at #10.
