Much of the discussion related to Rory McIlroy PGA Tour has related to its "value" and whether it would be worth spending $60 to get it day one, particularly with a competitor that is cheaper and offers arguably more content. The low number of licensed golfers and courses, and likelihood that paid DLC will be coming down the line, has led to some who are interested in the game contemplating waiting instead for a price drop. Those tend to happen within a month of release now anyway so the sac...

Gameplay footage from Rory McIlroy PGA Tour has been tough to come by even with its release just over a week away. Today though EA Sports sent out a video that puts the spotlight on the new "Quick Rounds" feature through the first extended look at gameplay. New to this year’s game is the Quick Rounds feature, which provides a selection of holes to play each round of a tournament, rather than requiring players to complete all 18 holes each day. You’ll enter each day of the tournament at ...

Just two weeks now - and well under that for those with EA Access, and Rory McIlroy PGA Tour will be in the hands of consumers. EA Sports has made a concerted effort to appeal to a more casual crowd with the game, offering up multiple play "styles", fantasy courses, and a mode called the Night Club Challenge. What they haven't done is tout their lineup of licensed courses and golfers and for good reason. There are only 12 real golfers on the roster and only 8 courses included on disc (plu...

Rory McIlroy PGA Tour is officially out on July 14 but those with an EA Access subscription on Xbox One will get the opportunity to play it starting July 9. That's not anything new, as ever since the service rolled out all EA games have been made available five days prior to their launch for a limited number of hours. What's interesting is that the number of hours being offered has expanded. EA Access subscribers will get 10 hours with McIlroy to use over that five day period - or any...

In late April the Collector's Edition of The Golf Club released to retail. That edition of the game followed the original all-digital release from way back in August 2014. Those who were just picking up the game, as a physical copy, were treated to content that those who purchased digitally had to wait for to arrive. After a lengthy delay in rolling out the downloadable content, which is being sold for $10, it released today on the PlayStation 4. Currently it isn't found in the actual Pla...
  • Rory McIlroy PGA Tour Has Startlingly Few Courses and Golfers

Recently, the promotion of Rory McIlroy PGA Tour started to put off vibe similar to how NHL 15 had been handled by EA Sports. Even after having extra time for development the level of content was notably being shielded, and the most prominent of which has been related to the licensing of courses and golfers. Now Operation Sports has learned the extent of both and it's clear why EA had been hiding it. There are only 8 licensed courses included in the game. Additionally there's one that is ...
