  • Rory McIlroy PGA Tour will get one new course in late September

More surprising than the lack of courses and golfers in Rory McIlroy PGA Tour has been EA Sports' failure to detail any post-release support plans for the game. Sales of McIlroy were dramatically affected, mostly due to having only eight licensed courses, yet it took until two weeks after release for the company to announce anything to do with additional content. The first info has come now and it's underwhelming to say the least. One new course is on the way for Rory McIlroy PGA Tour...

With the big spring DLC update for The Golf Club out of the way, attention has since turned to a new, and free, patch that has added to and improved the game even more. Available now on PlayStation 4 and PC, and soon on Xbox One, the latest update provides another theme for the course creator along with a number of minor enhancements and fixes.¬† (more…)...

Rory McIlroy PGA Tour has been out since last Wednesday on EA Access, and officially releases tomorrow to all. In a video produced for Hit The Pass today, Rich Grisham and I review the game, going through everything from gameplay to Career Mode, online play, and even the Night Club Challenge. Beyond that, we also discuss expectations for what the future holds for the game in terms of post-release support. The inevitability of having to move on from Tiger Woods after such a long relationship put EA Sports in a position where they felt it necessary to take the rebooted PGA Tour series in a totally different direction. Rory McIlroy PGA Tour has aimed at appealing to a more "casual" consumer. Gone are healthy lineups of licensed courses and golfers, and nods to history of the sport. In their place are arcade-elements like fantasy courses and over-the-top mini-games. Over two years have passe...
  • Early videos exploring Rory McIlroy PGA Tour through EA Access

Rory McIlroy PGA Tour went out through EA Access on Xbox One Wednesday providing the first and only opportunity for many to try the game out, or at least watch videos and live streams from those who can. Promotion of the game has been somewhat subdued, maybe in part due to the lack of content in at launch - but that wouldn't explain so little in the way of gameplay footage or detailed profiling¬†on the features/modes that make up the product.¬† (more…)...
  • Rory McIlroy PGA Tour 10 Hour trial now available through EA Access

    Posted July 8th, 2015 at 12:45 pm 5 Comments Ľ
Rory McIlroy PGA Tour is out now to download as a timed trial with EA Access on Xbox One. Subscribers to the service will get 10 hours of playtime after which it will expire. The timer is ticking down whenever the game is loaded regardless of whether it is being played, menus are being navigated through, or if there is any activity taking place at all. So make sure to exit out and close the application from the Xbox One home screen when not in use. The 10 hours are there to play whether ...
  • Limited number of courses and golfers having large effect on McIlroy purchase plans

How much does the reliance on licensing, when it comes to real courses and golfers, influence consumer interest in EA Sports' PGA Tour series? Based on the poll posted last week the lack of both - there are only 12 golfers and 8 courses on disc - could severely harm the potential of Rory McIlroy PGA Tour to do well in the marketplace.¬† (more…)...
  • Amazon Prime members can buy Rory McIlroy PGA Tour for $50

Much of the discussion related to Rory McIlroy PGA Tour has related to its "value" and whether it would be worth spending $60 to get it day one, particularly with a competitor that is cheaper and offers arguably more content. The low number of licensed golfers and courses, and likelihood that paid DLC will be coming down the line, has led to some who are interested in the game contemplating waiting instead for a price drop. Those tend to happen within a month of release now anyway so the sac...
