With FIFA 10 in hand I have gone through and timed different loading areas when running off the disc compared to running off the hard drive on the 360. Installing to the hard drive not only has proven to cut down on load times, in some cases significantly, but it also reduces stress to the system and the noise it produces. For FIFA 10 the actual install process took 10:16 and the game comes in at 6.2 GB. That is the longest timed install but not the largest since the capability to install be...
NBA Live 10 Hard Drive Evaluation

Installing to the hard drive not only has proven to cut down on load times, in some cases significantly, but it also reduces stress to the system and the noise it produces.
Interestingly in the case of NBA Live 10 there is only marginal improvement in the initial boot up to the main menu. In other areas there is more time saved but in ...

With NBA 2K10 in hand I have gone through and timed different loading areas when running off the disc compared to running off the hard drive on the 360. Installing to the hard drive not only has proven to cut down on load times, in some cases significantly, but it also reduces stress to the system and the noise it produces. Unlike all the other games I've examined the loading time improvement from the hard ...
Madden 10 Hard Drive Evaluation
Now part of the routine with any new game, I've gone through and timed different loading areas when running off the disc vs the hard drive on the 360. Installing to the hard drive not only has proven to cut down on load times but it also reduces stress to the system and the noise it produces. NCAA Football 10 turned out to show the most improvement of any game so far but that is also a series that has been plagued by slow loading. Madden 10 hasn't been nearly as bad with load times but lets ...
NCAA Football 10 Hard Drive Evaluation
Continuing the series of 360 hard drive performance evaluations this time brings about NCAA Football 10. I've gone through and compared several aspects of the game based on loading times. The NCAA Football series has been especially plagued by long loading times, laggy menus, and tedious menu navigation so the hope would be this could cut down on some of that. As always the other benefits of installing to the hard drive such quieter running and less stress on the 360 remain.

The BIGS 2 Hard Drive Performance Evaluation
As I have been doing with the latest releases the first thing I compare on a new game is the performance differences on the 360 when running the game from the disc vs installed to the hard drive. Once again it's important to reiterate that loading time is not the only benefit of installing to the hard drive. The console runs quiet and cool because it isn't working constantly reading off the disc. Continue on for the results with The BIGS 2.

FNR4 360 Hard Drive Performance Evaluation
Something I've done in that past that has been popular is taking a look at the differences in games on the 360 when played from disc vs the hard drive. Installing to the HDD has shown performance improvements in the games as well as cutting down on the stress to and noise from the console. Here is a look at the difference being seen in Fight Night Round 4.

Installing MLB 2K9 to the Hard Drive
When the NXE update for the 360 came out back in November I analyzed the benefits that were seen when installing games and playing them from the hard drive. You can check out those results here. That was apparently a popular feature as I have received numerous requests to do the same with MLB 2K9.
While I can't speak yet to any marginal performance improvements that may or may not come with the install I did compare loading times for the game when played with the disc vs the hard drive.

One of the anticipated elements to the New Xbox Experience (NXE) is the ability to install the games to the hard drive. While the disc is still required to be in the 360 while playing, drawing from the hard drive is supposed to put less strain on the hardware as well as decrease loading times as the disc isn't spinning or being read.
So I thought I would go through and experiment with some of the more recent sports titles to see what if any effect is had by installing the game to the hard...
