Mountain sports games are making a resurgence with three of them releasing in this final quarter of the year. There's the full-priced Steep in early December, the free-to-play Snow which is currently in beta, and Mark McMorris Infinite Air which arrived last week. Hopes were high with Infinite Air as it comes from HB Studios which created the well-received The Golf Club. Taking a similar approach from there and applying it to snowboarding just didn't work out unfortunately. The control sc...

NBA 2K17 faced the difficult task of following up an all-time great basketball game and adjusting to the changing landscape of the NBA. Additional ways to start and play through the franchise modes are welcome and the story mode thankfully incorporates career elements with the rookie season instead being locked away ...

Though it has yet to build much traction in North America the Pro Evolution Soccer series has been on the rise in terms of quality and it stands to reason that once that becomes more widely recognized by consumers sales could very well follow. PES 2017 released earlier this week and it's a fantastic game with only a few drawbacks and is currently the highest rated sports game on Metacritic since 2013 having topped last year's edition. • Review of Dangerous Golf

With fewer sports games than ever before there's an opening for independent developers to have success with creative unlicensed takes on different sports. Dangerous Golf is the latest to enter that space and it comes from the creators of the Burnout series, and borrows the concept behind its popular Crash Mode. Replacing cars with golf balls and hitting into destructive environments sounds like a recipe for success but unfortunately the fun wears off quickly. Whether it's frustrating te...

There are always few surprises with MLB The Show. Consumers can trust they're going to get terrific gameplay and visuals with consistent offline modes and commentary that have arguably started to fall behind the times. Last year though Diamond Dynasty rose up to become a favorite of many and even pulled off an upset win for the Community Award of Best Team-Building Mode. That coincided with the first satisfactory online experience in series' history. Diamond Dynasty received the most upg...

The long-running Out of the Park Baseball series has a stunning record of consistency. In entering its 17th edition the PC management simulator has averaged a score that exceeds 85 on Metacritic and last year hit its high mark of 91 through the review aggregator. The reliable nature of the series - consumers know precisely what they're getting and that it'll be a quality product - has reached a new level this year with the introduction of MLBPA licensing and new features that capitalize...
