The demo for Backbreaker (detailed yesterday) is now available on the Xbox Live Marketplace. Considering the three different modes and six teams it includes it comes in at a surprisingly slim 414MB. Exhibition games are locked at two minute quarters with the mode (Arcade, Pro) and difficulty (Easy, Medium, Hard) selectable. Impressions and videos to come starting today and through the weekend. In the meantime leave your thoughts on the demo in the comments!...

Official word has made it out that the demo for Backbreaker will arrive for the Xbox 360 tomorrow (Friday) morning at 9am PT while the PS3 is expected to get it next Tuesday. The demo will include training camp drills, tackle alley, and exhibition. Six teams are included to choose from. It definitely was a good move to make the demo extensive and include drills in addition to regular gameplay. Look for videos and impressions beginning tomorrow and through the weekend! • Backbreaker Demo Update and Talk of Sequel

Maybe the first good indicator in some time for Backbreaker as the demo has cleared approval with Microsoft and Sony. That likely means it will be out next Tuesday. All along the importance of the demo has been stressed for the game and though a week before release isn't ideal it would seem to be enough to allow judgments to be made on the game. Ironically if it does hit on Tuesday it will be up against the release day of UFC 2010 Undisputed. UFC debuted last year and used its demo to prope...
  • Backbreaker Passing Tutorial
    by
    Posted May 14th, 2010 at 4:36 pm 42 Comments »
GameTrailers has posted a tutorial video for Backbreaker concentrating on the passing game. Throwing passes requires the use of the right analog stick, focus mode with the left trigger provides higher accuracy, and cycling through receivers with the right stick will probably be the most difficult thing about the system to get used to. Continue on to watch the video and leave your thoughts in the comments! (more...)...

A new video featuring Backbreaker that comes from a foreign media source hit Youtube earlier today. The video shows extended periods of gameplay including splitscreen multiplayer and situations such as field goal kicking and punt returning. Continue on to check out the video, some thoughts on it, and be sure to leave your observations in the comments! (more...)...
  • Backbreaker Demo Could Be Coming Soon
    by
    Posted May 13th, 2010 at 12:03 pm 38 Comments »
Last week through a PR representative it was stated that the demo for Backbreaker would not be out until a few days before release (360) and a week after release (PS3). It appears that they may in fact be working towards getting them out earlier. Considering demos are now released on Tuesdays for both the 360 and PS3 that leaves May 18th and May 25th as the landing spots should it be out before the game hits stores. (more...)...
  • No Patch Coming for Tecmo Bowl Throwback
    by
    Posted May 6th, 2010 at 6:27 pm 15 Comments »
Word of a patch for Tecmo Bowl Throwback has now been squashed with Tecmo coming out to state that they will now not be providing one. The patch was planned in attempt to solve an issue with recording wins and losses when one side quits out of an online game. Kotaku has a full story on the news. The game released last week for the 360 but still has no stated release date for the PS3. As mentioned in my impressions of TBT, one of the drawbacks to a downloadable title is that they generally g...
  • Possible Demo Dates for Backbreaker

    Posted May 6th, 2010 at 3:32 pm 35 Comments »
The demo for Backbreaker definitely carries more significance than those of established sports franchises. Much like UFC last year it could be a huge success and propel the game towards increased awareness and sales. However it could also be damaging if the demo does not do a good job of representing the final product or does represent it but simply turns out to be a dud. According to a posting on the Backbreaker forum that includes an email from a representative of 505 Games, the demo for ...
  • Tecmo Bowl Throwback Impressions

Tecmo Bowl Throwback is basically a carbon copy of Tecmo Super Bowl with a few notable exceptions. There is now a "3D" mode with updated graphics, online play has been added, and the game lost all elements of the NFL license. (more...)...
  • Tecmo Bowl Throwback Gameplay Vids

I went ahead and recorded a couple quick videos from Tecmo Bowl Throwback. I have mixed feelings on the game right now, which I'll lay out in an upcoming impressions posting, but these videos are a good opportunity to at least see the game in action. The first video is a scoring drive where I switched between "3D" and "2D" views to display the difference, while the final two videos come out of an online game.
