MLB 2K13 Perfect Game Challenge Begins
It's fitting that the Perfect Game Challenge for MLB 2K13 begins on April Fools Day considering the product made available to consumers this year was for all intents and purposes a joke. Those stuck with 2K13 because its their only option, or those who bought it solely for the chance to try and win money, will now find the contest mode live through the end of April.
Last year 2K Sports got the structure right by making it more of a competition than a race - though it was later marred by a...
Part One of Player Face Comparisons Between MLB 13: The Show and MLB 2K13
With baseball one of the last remaining sports that have competition - whether that continues to be the case in 2014 is up in the air at this point - the player face comparison between the two games has been one of the most popular features of the spring the last few years. The Show has won out in all three battles: 21-6 margin in 2012, 14-6 in 2011, and 11-8-1 in 2010.
For 2013 the set of faces has been expanded to 40. While MLB 2K13 is practically a carbon copy of 2K12 it still could h...
Assessing the Fallout from MLB 2K13
MLB 2K13's release last week turned out to be an embarrassing attempt at swindling consumers into paying $60 for a year old product. No yearly licensed sports title has ever unabashedly embodied being "just a roster update" and in doing so justified the cliched criticism often directed by the uninformed at the genre. The game is actually worse than that though as it contains even less content than last year with the sneaking out of online leagues and it isn't be expected to receive much if a...
Baseball Games Leak the All-Star Uniforms
Both MLB 13: The Show and MLB 2K13 include the uniforms and batting practice caps for the 2013 All-Star game. The designs being worn for the All-Star festivities have yet to be officially revealed by the league but are available within the games. This year's event takes place at New York's Citi Field and as such the colors and logo are inspired by the Mets. Continue on to check out images for the AL and NL as captured from both titles. MLB 2K13 Isn’t Just 2K12 With a Roster Update…It’s Less Than That
Having put in 35 innings of "work" with MLB 2K13 and time skimming through Association and MyPlayer modes there's really no reason to dig any deeper into the game to review. Conjecture that it would be 2K12 with a roster update and only the absolutely necessary changes like the Astros to the AL and new schedule was in fact on the mark and as it turns out generous. It's a product that on its own is certainly not 2K9 levels of bad, it's okay for those who don't care all that much about basebal...
Soundtrack for MLB 2K13
With MLB 2K12 a fair amount of ridicule was thrown 2K Sports' way for counting the soundtrack among the game's five primary features. With 2K13 the company failed to promote anything including the soundtrack, but there is in fact a new playlist included. Continue on for the full rundown of 12 songs from 10 different artists. (more…)...
In Unprecedented Fashion MLB 2K13 to Release Without Providing Any Information on How It Differs from Prior Iteration
When the one year reprieve for the MLB 2K series was announced back in January expectations were set understandably low. The poorly regarded series had been cancelled only to be resurrected when MLB settled with significantly reduced terms in order to have a product on the market for the Xbox 360. Having baseball for the largest console base in North America was viewed as a necessity. However being saddled with a constrained development cycle along with a limited budget and no apparent futu...
Baseball Games Forgo Demos This Year But for Very Different Reasons
There will be no prerelease demos for MLB 2K13 and MLB 13: The Show. In the case of one, a lack of improvements and constrained development cycle would be to blame, while the other can rest on a stronger reputation negating the need in some eyes to release a demo. (more…)...
