A patch for EA Sports MMA is currently being completed and some details on what is on the way have been revealed. Though there seemed to be no major pressing issues with the game there have been some cases of imbalance particularly having to do with body shots and the effectiveness of the button control scheme when compared to total punch control.  Some of what will be included in the patch is listed below. Reducing the range and combo speed for hook to hook combos to the body Incr...

EA Sports MMA has now been out for two weeks allowing plenty of time to assess what the game has done well and where it fell short. For a first attempt with the launching of a franchise the product is surprisingly polished and contains a deep feature set. Here are what I perceive to be the hits and misses for EA Sports MMA. Last week the 'Friday Night Fights' kicked off and turned out to be a big success. Fight Cards in EA Sports MMA were ran for 2 1/2 hours with five total being completed. You can check out the results here. It was really a lot of fun not just in competing but in getting to watch all the other fights live. Same procedure tonight. I will set up a Fight Card on the 360 at 10ET/7PT. If you'd like to be involved join into the room at that time. The room holds 10 people but there are only four fig...
  • EA Sports MMA Career Mode Impressions

The career mode for EA Sports MMA is largely responsible for how much I have been enjoying the game. While it is pretty straight-forward in how the fighter progresses and advances it is the process of being put through the motions of various drills that has proved extremely valuable. The career mode avoids some of the frustrations found in similar modes in other games. It also keeps a good balance in ratings distribution while adding the strategy behind building on chosen strengths and learnin...
  • There is a Future for EA Sports MMA

Just one week after the release of EA Sports MMA there are analysts predicting that the company will cease making an MMA game going forward. Sales are reportedly soft and with THQ locking up the UFC license through 2018 the thought is being perpetuated that there is no room to grow and pushing forward would prove futile. That really isn't the case however and EA is not likely to abandon a growing sport when they have now established themselves as players in the market even as that comes from a...

The first Friday Night Fights with EA Sports MMA turned out to be a big success. The Fight Cards feature is so much fun when a group of people get together as was the case last night. We ended up going for two and a half hours (I believe five total cards) and it was really enjoyable even in just watching the other fights. It turned out that there was overflow and not everyone could be involved on each card. To my surprise the Fight Card rooms allow for 10 people to be in but limit the card ...
