Fight Night Round 4 made its way out last week as one of the most anticipated sports releases of the year. Over the last couple days I've found myself trying to get a feel for the game and playing online. Some of the detrimental aspects and design decisions have stood out the most once getting past the fantastic visuals. Continue on for some general thoughts and leave yours in the comments! Something I've done in that past that has been popular is taking a look at the differences in games on the 360 when played from disc vs the hard drive. Installing to the HDD has shown performance improvements in the games as well as cutting down on the stress to and noise from the console. Here is a look at the difference being seen in Fight Night Round 4. (more...)...

Through a few of the EA Sports titles the Photo Game Face feature has been evolving and improving. For Fight Night Round 4 this is a selling point in being able to add to the stable of fighters through creations of your own or by downloading others. I decided to look through the boxer gallery and found some that looked quite good and others that showed little resemblance to who it was supposed to represent. What are your thoughts on the feature? Have you created a fighter through Photo Fa...
  • UFC 2009 Dominates May Sales

UFC 2009 Undisputed was expected to be a strong seller. The sport is on the rise, reviews and buzz were good, and the marketing was heavy. However I'm not sure if many would've predicted that UFC would sell over one million copies in just the 12 days it was on the market in May. With the NPD releasing sales numbers today we found out that the 360 version moved 679,600 copies with the PS3 selling 334,400. The game obliterated everything else for the month. To put it in perspective the 1.14...

As you may already know I was fortunate to visit EA Canada in Vancouver, British Columbia to check out the next installment of the Fight Night series. Let us also remember that the boxing community has had to wait 3 years for the second game on next generation consoles since Fight Night Round 3 was released in February of 2006. It should also be noted that EA Canada took over development for this game and it appears to have been a good choice so far. (more...)...
  • Discussion Continues About FNR4 Controls

Ever since it was revealed that the button control scheme was removed completely for Fight Night Round 4, in turn forcing Total Punch Control with the right analog, it has been a hot topic of discussion.Yesterday the EA Canada community manager responded basically stating that that the button controls wouldn't be returning and to learn to like TPC or move on. The posting has since been deleted from the EA Forum. I still don't understand the thinking behind this decision or the way in whic...

With the demo for Fight Night Round 4 out (to Gamestop preorders) and with decidedly mixed reaction, producer Brian Hayes made sure to address some of the common complaints being made in a posting on the EA Sports forum. If these issues were addressed as stated than most will probably be satisfied with the difference between demo and final version. Generally though the demo is fairly representative of the final product. Also of note is that while the demo will be out for everyone else on ...
  • FNR4 Highlight Clips

One of the features recently discussed in various media articles on Fight Night Round 4 is the ability to take replays and upload them to EA Sports World. At any point in a fight you can pause the game, go into replay mode for that round, and cut out a portion to upload. I've always enjoyed the highlight features in games and hope there is a way to save them following the conclusion of online fights also. The demo actually contains this same functionality and a bunch of highlights are bei...
