  • Fan Vote Will Determine Cover Fighter for EA Sports UFC
    Posted June 18th, 2013 at 6:45 pm 4 Comments ╗
Amazon has added placeholder box art to listings (One - PS4) for the upcoming UFC game from EA Sports. Interestingly despite having been referred to up until now as "EA Sports UFC" a few retailers including Amazon and Walmart have switched the product name to "UFC". All the EA Sports titles feature the logo prominently in the center so its presence in the box art doesn't suggest otherwise. Certainly the EA Sports in front of UFC helps define the product better than without it and it will lik...

The presentation made to attendees of E3 went into all of them however and now the company has released full descriptions of each. Though it's the game that is the farthest out from releasing of the next-gen bunch that was put on display this week it may have been the most impressive on a technical level and in the substance shared.┬á (more…)...
  • Quick Thoughts From E3 2013 Day One
    Posted June 11th, 2013 at 6:15 pm 29 Comments ╗
Here are some basic impressions from the first day being on the show floor of E3 which featured prominently the upcoming EA Sports games. The company shut down any recording of the games at their booth so unlike past years the number of videos and images coming out will be limited. Included at the end of this piece are the short videos of Madden NFL 25 captured before that point as the taking of them had been approved to begin the day. Thoughts on all the games will be expanded upon in ...

EA Sports of course though dominated a section of the show with next-gen versions of Madden NFL 25, FIFA 14, EA Sports UFC, and NBA Live 14. For Live 14 the game will feature a new dribbling system called "bounceTek" which releases the ball to physics. Stat and roster u...
  • First Look Fighter Render from EA Sports UFC
    Posted June 3rd, 2013 at 4:15 pm 5 Comments ╗
The last eight days of feature teases have provided very little to go on for EA Sports UFC. The eight gameplay features in question will be revealed at the EA press conference next Monday. In the meantime the company has released the above image showcasing UFC Lightweight Champion Benson Henderson's face and touting the "unprecedented fighter likeness". This is an actual in-game render and not the CGI seen in the earlier Ignite engine trailer. With the game not releasing until next Apr...
  • Eight Features for EA Sports UFC Being Revealed at E3

With E3 now less than two weeks away EA Sports is already revving up the hype with a series of teases for the UFC franchise to be made over the next eight days. Given that the first entry in the series from the company, which acquired the license last March, is still about a year away from release the spotlight it is being given suggests a high level of confidence in development and high hopes for it becoming a powerful franchise. EA is looking to generate excitement about the series far in ...

As expected EA Sports held a prominent role at the Microsoft event to reveal the new Xbox One. Andrew Wilson appeared to discuss the next generation confirming Madden NFL 25, FIFA 14, NBA Live 14, and UFC for the Xbox One. The company also announced the "EA Sports Ignite" engine which will provide true player motion and living worlds. EA will also be discussing a "new broad, strategic partnership with Microsoft" in the near future - probably more on that at E3. FIFA 14 will be getting exc...
  • EA Sports UFC May Also Show Up at Microsoft Event

Earlier this morning FIFA 14 was confirmed to be shown at the Microsoft console reveal event tomorrow. Though it comes in less specific terms EA Sports seems to be confirming UFC to appear there as well. No word however has come on Madden or NBA Live yet. The social media accounts for EA UFC are teasing the first news on the game - which we know won't be releasing before April 2014 and likely to be only for the next generation consoles - to be out tomorrow. There is no way they'd be doing...

When EA Sports announced their current lineup for fiscal year 2014 - which runs from April 2013 through March 2014 - they omitted two games that only weeks ago would have been expected present. Tiger Woods is going on hiatus for a year but speculation had UFC coming late 2013 or early 2014. Now EA has confirmed through Joystiq that UFC is simply not planned for release this fiscal year.┬á (more…)...
