Here is the next set of positional rankings heading into the NFL Draft. This one focuses on the running backs. This is a relatively deep crop with guys available in the later rounds (or that may even go undrafted) that could contribute if put in the right system. I will be posting up rankings focused on each position over the coming weeks. The lists may change as opinion adjusts or news comes out that affects the stock of the players. These rankings are based on my personal analysis of ...
  • Dez Bryant Has Unimpressive Pro Day

Following the heralded Pro Day for Sam Bradford yesterday, another player with some questions was in the spotlight today. Oklahoma State receiver Dez Bryant, who did not perform at the combine, went through many of the same drills including the 40. During catch drills he reportedly dropped a few balls early but then recovered and performed well. Times recorded on the 40 were disappointing but not unanticipated. He ran a 4.52, then a 4.68 (into the wind), before being asked to run it a third...

The highly anticipated Pro Day for Sam Bradford took place earlier today, and all accounts are that he came out of it having impressed those in attendance. Gil Brandt, former Cowboys VP of player personnel,  actually said that Bradford's workout was the best he had seen since Troy Aikman. Pete Carroll tweeted that he "lit it up". While not everyone will be making those caliber of claims at least publicly, it appears that Bradford threw with good velocity which was the worry going in given ...

Here is the first set of positional rankings heading into the NFL Draft. This one focuses on the quarterbacks, not a particularly deep crop of talent this year. There are 12, maybe 13 that could go in the draft with a handful more likely to be picked up as UDFAs. I will be posting up rankings focused on each position over the coming weeks. The lists may change as opinion adjusts or news comes out that affects the stock of the players. These rankings are based on my personal analysis of the ...
  • Donovan McNabb Could Be Traded Soon

A report today in the Philadelphia Daily News stated that the Rams and Eagles were close to making a deal which would involve Donovan McNabb being sent to the Rams in exchange for their second round pick (#33) and possibly also include OJ Atogwe. This has apparently been denied by a Rams source but the rumor continues to swirl nonetheless. When I first heard this I found it hard to believe. McNabb could make St. Louis better in the short term sure, maybe help them towards a few more wins, b...

That is no longer the case, and this updated first round mock draft includes a big shakeup in the top 10. Continue on to check out the picks and leave your thoughts on the mock in the comments! • Tebow, Haden Perform Well at Pro Day

Probably the most anticipated and scrutinized Pro Day this year was held yesterday for Florida Gators players with names such as Tim Tebow, Joe Haden, Carlos Dunlap, and Aaron Hernandez working out for scouts. Based on reactions out of the workouts the players impressed with the exception of Brandon Spikes. Unveiling his new throwing motion most reports out of the Pro Day were positive for Tebow. Ultimately it probably didn't change opinions for teams that didn't like him to begin with but ...
  • Trade for Whitehurst Changes Direction of Seahawks Draft
    by
    Posted March 17th, 2010 at 6:06 pm 4 Comments »
Most everyone has expected the Seahawks to draft the QB of the future this year, with Jimmy Clausen being the intriguing option that could still be available when the 6th pick is on the clock. However earlier today the team traded with the Chargers to acquire Charlie Whitehurst. In giving up 20 spots in the second round and a 3rd rounder in the 2011 draft, along with a two year $10 million contract, Seattle has made it clear that Whitehurst is going to have the opportunity to be that guy for t...
